What's new

Smiley's Better Brain 3.0.0

Changes since 2.1.1

AI providers

  • Updated the primary chat backend to Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite
  • Added an Experimental config tab
  • Added experimental Groq chat support using Verity JE's llama-3.3-70b-versatile
  • Added a separate Groq API key setting
  • Preserved Better Brain prompts, tools, memory, history, actions, and early TTS when Groq is selected
  • Added automatic Gemini fallback for Better Vision screenshot turns while Groq is selected
  • Removed the native-system-prompt testing option; Better Brain enhancements now remain active whenever the mod is enabled

Rate limits and reliability

  • Raised Gemini's local quota gate to match the free tier:
    • 15 requests per minute
    • 250,000 estimated tokens per minute
  • Local quota pressure now waits for a rolling-window slot rather than immediately showing an error
  • The “slow down” message now appears only after a real provider HTTP 429 / RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED response
  • Added provider-specific cooldown tracking
  • Added support for provider Retry-After / retry-delay values
  • Kept Gemini and Groq cooldowns independent
  • Added streaming Groq JSON parsing and early speech support

Verity JE 5.7.3 support

  • Rebuilt Better Brain specifically against Verity JE 5.7.3
  • Updated runtime compatibility to Verity JE 5.7.3–5.7.x
  • Updated prompt matching for Verity 5.7.3's personality format
  • Added a dedicated-server-safe Verity 5.7.3 base prompt path
  • Preserved Better Brain behavior on integrated and dedicated servers without loading client-only Verity classes
