What's new
Skyroot Islands 0.5.1
This update includes all changes made since version 0.3.2.
New island families
-
Added abandoned garden islands with irregular ponds, bridges, ruins, pavilions and grouped vegetation.
-
Added small grove companion islands with rooted trees.
-
Added weeping companion islands with taller, drooping trees.
-
Added large ocean terrace islands with pools and contained waterfalls.
-
Added biome-appropriate landmark trees, including conifer and savanna-style variants.
-
Companion islands now vary in height, shape and placement.
-
Waterfall catch islands now use irregular natural rock, moss and vegetation instead of artificial bowl-like shapes.
Improved island generation
-
Improved the sides and undersides of procedural islands.
-
Added displaced rock cores, eroded shoulders, fractured ridges and uneven hanging formations.
-
Added several underside shape variants so islands no longer share the same lower silhouette.
-
Preserved caves, ores, biome materials and playable upper surfaces.
-
Added deterministic shape variation based on the world seed.
-
Improved biome-aware tree selection.
-
Added size tiers ranging from small islands to rare islands approximately 150 blocks wide.
-
Main island height continues to vary naturally around Y=222.
-
Generation remains chunk-local and avoids loading neighboring chunks.
Hanging vegetation and lighting
-
Added natural cave vines and glow berries beneath procedural islands.
-
Vines appear around cliffs, cavities, shelves and overhangs.
-
Main strands vary from 2 to 16 blocks, with occasional strands reaching 24 blocks.
-
Glow berries are spaced irregularly instead of illuminating every vine block.
-
Added solid attachment, ground-clearance and biome checks.
-
Vine placement remains sparse and bounded to reduce generation cost.
Rare decorated island
-
Added the supplied WorldEdit island as a rare structure.
-
Preserved its original scale, house, interiors, trees and decoration.
-
Added three deterministic underside variants while keeping the house unchanged.
-
Converted compatible modded tree materials to vanilla spruce and oak while preserving their shapes.
-
Removed unsupported mod blocks and data.
-
Replaced five removed blocks around the lava enclosure with vanilla blackstone.
-
Removed all personal items from inventories.
-
The schematic contained no saved entities.
-
Added configurable generation controls:
-
decoratedIslands -
decoratedIslandChance -
decoratedIslandMinSpacing
-
-
Default minimum separation between decorated islands is 1,800 blocks.
-
Added
/skyroot locate decorated.
New alpine island
-
Added a rare, handcrafted alpine floating island.
-
Features an asymmetric wooded plateau, off-center rocky mountains, grassy terraces and a winding river.
-
Includes a narrow contained waterfall flowing into a separate lower rock basin.
-
Added four small conifer trees around the receiving basin.
-
Includes 35 conifers, irregular hanging rock formations, recesses, moss, ferns and luminous cave vines.
-
Uses only vanilla Minecraft blocks.
-
Can rotate in four directions while preserving its complete design.
-
Added
/skyroot locate alpine. -
Added configuration options:
-
alpineIslands -
alpineIslandChance
-
Alpine size variations
-
The alpine island can now generate at four horizontal sizes:
-
91 blocks — 50% of selected alpine variants
-
110 blocks — 30%
-
130 blocks — 15%
-
150 blocks — 5%
-
-
The complete island scales together, including its forest, river, waterfall, vines and lower basin.
-
Vertical scale remains unchanged to preserve natural proportions and safe generation height.
-
The original 91-block version remains unchanged.
-
The waterfall remains one block thick at larger sizes to prevent unnecessary fluid updates.
-
The existing
maxIslandDiametersetting limits the largest possible alpine variant.
Performance and safety
-
Added bounded per-thread shape and terrain-column caching.
-
Reduced repeated shape calculations during chunk generation.
-
Terrain validation results are stored in a bounded cache.
-
Placement only processes columns belonging to the current chunk.
-
No cascading chunk loads are used.
-
Island decorators do not schedule unnecessary block or fluid ticks.
-
Existing blocks are protected from being overwritten by authored islands.
-
Improved configuration handling and cache invalidation.
-
Tightened compatibility metadata for Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.4.10.
