Changelog
π₯ Excavating β New Skill Feature
Introduced a complete Excavating skill system, allowing players to investigate sand blocks, discover valuable treasures, and progress through 10 unique ranks.
βοΈ Sand Investigation
Hold right-click with a shovel on Sand to begin an investigation.
Investigation time scales with skill level:
Level 1: 3 seconds.
Level 99: 1 second.
The server controls investigation progress, completion, cancellation, loot generation, and XP rewards.
Changing the target block, shovel, or selected hotbar slot cancels the investigation.
Moving too far away from the target block also cancels it.
Only one player can investigate the same block at a time.
Canceled investigations grant no loot or XP, consume no durability, and leave the original Sand block untouched.
Off-hand blocks are prevented from being placed while investigating.
π Excavating Ranks
Added 10 unique progression ranks, each with its own name and color.
Rank progression unlocks new potential rewards as players advance.
Added rank-up notifications when reaching a new rank.
π Loot System & Loot Table Rebalance
Added 28 possible rewards distributed across 7 rarity tiers:
Common
Uncommon
Rare
Very Rare
Epic
Legendary
Mythic
Rebalanced the loot table to improve reward progression and individual drop chances.
Introduced level-based rarity budgets and relative reward weights.
Added linear interpolation between progression milestones for smoother scaling.
Common resources gradually disappear as players level up.
Introduced progression-based replacements, including Iron Ingots and Gold Ingots.
Higher-level players can discover increasingly valuable rewards, including Netherite Ingots, Totems of Undying, and Enchanted Golden Apples.
Nothing chance is dynamically calculated based on available rarity budgets and unlocked rewards.
Added distribution validation to ensure that all rewards and Nothing always total 100%.
Each completed investigation performs a single weighted loot roll.
ποΈ Investigated Sand
Added a new block: simpleskills:investigated_sand.
Uses the vanilla Sand texture and matching block properties.
Retains vanilla-like gravity, breaking behavior, drops, and placement.
Investigated blocks cannot be investigated again.
Integrated the new block into relevant sand, glass, and shovel tags.
Added 18 complementary crafting recipes for sandstone, TNT, and concrete powder.
π XP & Durability
Every completed investigation grants 40 base XP, including when Nothing is found.
Additional XP is awarded based on the rarity of the discovered reward.
XP rewards:
Common: 140 XP
Uncommon: 190 XP
Rare: 240 XP
Very Rare: 340 XP
Epic: 540 XP
Legendary: 840 XP
Mythic: 1540 XP
Integrated with the existing XPManager.
Uses the existing Gathering Speed durability protection system.
Each completed investigation consumes one durability point unless prevented by the existing protection perk.
π₯οΈ HUD & Interface
Added an investigation progress bar below the crosshair.
Progress updates smoothly between server synchronization packets.
The bar automatically disappears when an investigation ends or is canceled.
Added Excavating rank information to the TAB skill menu.
Displays the current rank and investigation time based on skill level.
π¬ Notifications & Commands
Added rank-up notifications when reaching a new Excavating rank.
Very Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic discoveries trigger chat notifications.
Legendary and Mythic discoveries also trigger special sound and particle effects.
Added /simpleskills excavating odds <level> to display the exact loot distribution for any level from 1 to 99.
The odds command requires moderator permissions.
π§ Technical Integration
Integrated Excavating into the existing skill initialization and XP systems.
Added server-to-client networking for investigation progress.
Investigation sessions are managed server-side.
Added cleanup for active investigations on player disconnect and server shutdown.
