SimpleSkills Enhanced

An unofficial community fork of SimpleSkills by Ob'yekt, featuring expanded RPG progression, enhanced profession perks, combat bonuses, and gameplay improvements.

SimpleSkills Enhanced

Important notice: SimpleSkills Enhanced is a fork of the official SimpleSkills mod. The entire foundation of the mod, the skill system, the leaderboards, Ironman mode, the configuration, and the original idea belong to its creator (Discord: obyekt). All credit for the original mod goes to him. This fork only adds improvements on top of his work.

πŸ† Progression Philosophy

The perks in SimpleSkills exist to reward players for the time they invest in their professions. Leveling a skill to 99 takes a long time, so reaching it should feel worthwhile. A player who gets there earns every benefit the skill offers, and the bonuses are tuned to be strong at the top end for that reason.

πŸ†• What the Fork Adds

⛏️ Mining, πŸͺ“ Woodcutting & πŸ₯„ Excavating: Gathering Speed

  • +1% break speed per level, reaching +99% at level 99.
  • The bonus respects the tool of each skill:
    • Mining: Pickaxe.
    • Woodcutting: Axe.
    • Excavating: Shovel.
  • The bonus multiplies vanilla breaking speed instead of replacing the original formula.
  • Tool Durability Protection: +1 percentage point per level, up to 99% at level 99.

⛏️ Mining

  • Loot Duplication: +5 percentage points of duplication chance every 10 levels, up to 45% at level 90.
  • Vein Mining: Unlocked at level 15. Hold Shift to mine connected blocks of the same ore type. Every 15 levels adds 2 extra blocks, reaching 12 additional blocks at level 90.

πŸͺ“ Woodcutting

  • Loot Duplication: +5 percentage points of duplication chance every 10 levels, up to 45% at level 90.
  • Tree Feller: Unlocked at level 5. Hold Shift and break a tree trunk with an axe to make the connected tree fall, including its branches and leaves. Fallen logs and leaves have animations, and leaves generate their normal drops when they land.

πŸ₯„ Excavating

  • Sand Investigation: Hold right-click with a shovel on Sand to investigate it and search for buried treasures.
  • Investigation Speed: The time required decreases with skill level, from 3 seconds at level 1 to 1 second at level 99.
  • 10 Unique Ranks: Progress through 10 ranks as you gain Excavating XP, unlocking access to increasingly valuable loot.

28 Possible Rewards: Discover items distributed across 7 rarity tiers:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Very Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary
  • Mythic

Progressive Loot System: Reward chances and rarity budgets scale with skill level. Higher-level players unlock access to increasingly valuable treasures.

πŸ“Š Excavating Loot Odds

The following table shows the probability distribution across rarity tiers at different Excavating levels. The Nothing category represents the chance of completing an investigation without finding a reward.

Rarity Level 1 Level 30 Level 60 Level 99
Common 70% 35% 15% 5%
Uncommon 10% 25% 25% 15%
Rare 5% 20% 25% 25%
Very Rare 0% 0% 8% 20%
Epic 5% 7% 15% 15%
Legendary 0% 0% 3% 12%
Mythic 0% 0% 0% 8%
Nothing 10% 13% 9% 0%
Total 100% 100% 100% 100%

These percentages represent the rarity distribution, not the individual drop chance of each item. Individual reward probabilities depend on the available rewards and the player's Excavating level.

  • Nothing Chance: The loot distribution dynamically accounts for unlocked rewards, with the complete distribution always totaling 100%.
  • Special Discoveries: Very Rare and higher-tier rewards trigger chat notifications. Legendary and Mythic discoveries also trigger special sound and particle effects.
  • XP Rewards: Every completed investigation grants 40 base XP, with additional XP depending on the rarity of the discovered reward:
Reward XP
Nothing 40
Common 140
Uncommon 190
Rare 240
Very Rare 340
Epic 540
Legendary 840
Mythic 1540
  • Investigated Sand: Completed investigations transform Sand into a special block that cannot be investigated again.
  • 18 Additional Recipes: Includes complementary recipes for sandstone, TNT, and concrete powder.
  • Uses the shared Gathering Speed and Tool Durability Protection bonuses.
  • Canceled investigations do not consume durability or grant XP or loot.

βš”οΈ Slaying

  • Sword damage: +0.3% per level, up to +29.7% at level 99.
  • Critical hit chance: +0.5 percentage points per level, up to 49.5% at level 99.
  • Custom critical hits with a 1.5Γ— damage multiplier.
  • Compatible with vanilla critical hits: A vanilla critical and a SimpleSkills critical can trigger at the same time on the same hit.
  • Life Steal I (level 50): 30% chance to recover half a heart.
  • Life Steal II (level 99): 60% chance to recover half a heart.
  • Bonuses apply to swords using charged attacks.

🏹 Ranged

  • Projectile damage: +0.5% per level, up to +49.5% at level 99.
  • Double Shot (levels 1–50): +2 percentage points of duplication chance per level, reaching 100% at level 50.
  • Triple Shot (levels 51–99): Once Double Shot is guaranteed, a second extra projectile can be created. Its chance rises progressively from 0% at level 50 to 100% at level 99.
  • Maximum projectile count: Up to 3 projectiles per shot at level 99 (the original plus 2 duplicates).
  • Eligible weapons: Bow and Crossbow.
  • Arrow duplication: Works with both Bows and Crossbows.
  • Firework rocket duplication: Works only with Crossbows.
  • Multishot compatibility: Each projectile has its own independent chance to trigger duplication.
  • Free duplication: Extra projectiles do not consume additional ammunition or grant extra skill XP.
  • Trajectory: Duplicated projectiles follow the original shot direction and spawn at randomized positions around the original projectile.

πŸ›‘οΈ Defense

  • Damage reduction: 0.3 percentage points per level.
  • Armor durability protection: 1 percentage point per level.
  • Knockback resistance: 0.5 percentage points per level.

πŸ–₯️ HUD & Interface

  • Skills HUD with a refreshed look and no yellow border.
  • Reworked TAB menu (SkillTabMenu):
    • Currently, it only appears on the multiplayer player TAB screen.
    • Shows the benefits of each profession.
    • Displays progression information and per-level bonuses.
    • Better visual organization of skill information.

  • Gear unlocks: Diamond, Netherite, and more depending on your level.
  • Ironman Mode: Lose items and XP on death, with reduced HP (-50%) and 0.2Γ— XP gain. Red skull icon and a death announcement to the server. Can be enforced for all players.
  • Leaderboards: Top 5 per skill or total, including an Ironman-exclusive ranking. XP keeps being tracked after level 99.
  • Prestige System: Once you reach max level in all skills, you can reset and gain a Prestige counter next to your name.
