Snapshot improvements
Full snapshots can preserve:
- Block states
- Block entities
- Container inventories
- Structural entities such as paintings, item frames and Armor Stands
Ghost previews now use actual Minecraft block models and textures instead of simple placeholder cubes.
Large previews are segmented and culled to reduce unnecessary rendering work.
🗺️ Minimap Improvements
The minimap received several visual customization options.
New textured frames
Players can now choose between:
- Classic — original SSU minimap border
- Textured — custom Minecraft-style frame
Both shapes are supported:
- Square
- Circle
The circular minimap uses proper circular clipping, while the square textured minimap is clipped to the inner opening of its frame.
New player marker
The old generated player marker has been replaced by a custom 16×16 Minecraft-style arrow texture.
The marker continues to rotate correctly depending on the selected minimap orientation mode.
🧑 NPC Improvements
Several major NPC visual issues have been fixed.
NPC labels
- Removed the duplicate vanilla Minecraft nameplate
- SSU now fully controls NPC name/role labels
- NPC labels are approximately 2× larger
- Labels now scale together with the NPC's configured entity scale
- Label spacing also scales correctly
Custom NPC skins
Custom player-style NPC skins now work correctly.
Supported sources:
- Local server PNG
- Remote HTTPS PNG
Local skins can be placed in:
<world>/simpleserverutilities/npcs/textures/
Remote and local skins must currently be:
- PNG
- 64×64
- Maximum 512 KiB
The custom skin rendering pipeline was fixed so dynamically loaded skins are correctly bound to Minecraft's player renderer instead of displaying the missing-texture pattern.
Remote skin loading also received improved retry handling and diagnostics.
🎨 New Dashboard Icons
Added new custom 16×16 Minecraft-style icons for:
- Achievements
- Minigames
- Cosmetics
The player dashboard now also includes a Cosmetics button.
> Cosmetics currently opens a placeholder page and will be expanded in a later development build.

Several Server Operations pages received usability improvements.
Server Health
Server Health now shows an easy-to-understand overall status:

- 🔴 VERY BAD
Technical information such as TPS, MSPT, memory usage and module timings remains available in the detailed view.

Several systems received additional crash-safety and persistence improvements.
Added or improved:
- Content reward ledger

This helps prevent rewards or progression events from being processed multiple times after a restart or crash.
