New Silverfish Variants

Four new animated adult silverfish, each with unique abilities and combat characteristics.

• Araneo Silverfish: A balanced variant that can climb walls like a spider.

• Mantis Silverfish: A fast and aggressive predator that deals increased damage.

• Crab Silverfish: A slower but tougher variant with improved durability and armor.

• Fly Silverfish: A fragile, fast-moving variant capable of flight that pursues players through the air.

Group Behavior: All adult variants attack players on sight. When one is injured, nearby silverfish join the fight, making encounters more dangerous.

The Silverfish Life Cycle

Eggs → Larvae → Infested Stone → Silverfish

Silverfish now have a complete life cycle, introducing new ways for infestations to spread and evolve underground.

Silverfish Eggs

• Can be placed on floors, walls, and ceilings.

• Spawn in clusters of 1 to 4 eggs.

• Breaking an egg or stepping on it can release a larva.

Larvae

• Flee from nearby players.

• Burrow into nearby stone, continuing the infestation cycle.

Infested Stone

The creature released depends on how long the block has been infested:

• Recent infestation: Releases a larva.

• Older infestation: Releases a vanilla silverfish.

• Old infestation: Releases a random adult variant.

Watch your surroundings. An infestation left undisturbed can become a much greater threat.

Breeding Chambers

Deep underground, silverfish establish large natural nests made up of interconnected rooms and tunnels.

These structures feature:

• Adult silverfish and clusters of eggs throughout the nest.
• Suspicious gravel containing archaeology loot.
• Tunnels that can connect directly to vanilla caves.

Each chamber is designed to feel like a natural extension of Minecraft's underground environment.

Miner's Remains

Some chambers contain the remains of an abandoned mining camp, hinting at explorers who never made it back to the surface.

Look for:

• Broken mineshaft supports, rails, cobwebs, and an unlit candle.
• Decorated pots containing small mining-related loot.
• A rare Lost Miner's Barrel hidden at the end of certain tunnels.

Exploration can be rewarding, but the inhabitants of these nests won't make it easy.

Designed for Vanilla Minecraft

Silverfish Expansion introduces new mechanics and exploration opportunities without straying from Minecraft's original design philosophy.
