Shard Kin — An Origins Addon
Born beneath mountains older than memory, the Shard Kin carry a sleeping prism where a heart should be. Diamond answers its fragile song—but the echoes of the Wither and Ender Dragon can awaken something greater. When that crystal ascends, the earth itself answers its call.
Shard Kin adds a crystal-themed origin for Minecraft Forge 1.20.1, featuring mineral feeding, armor-based attacks, a defensive shell, and permanent evolution.
Impact: Medium · 2/3
A body of living crystal
-
22 health and +2 natural armor.
-
Stand on supported amethyst blocks for +4 additional armor, a purple glowing outline, and a chance to reflect melee damage.
-
Breathe underwater indefinitely and sink to the bottom, where you can move and jump along the ground.
-
Gain a 10% chance to evade projectile damage.
Your crystalline body comes with weaknesses: pickaxe attacks deal 50% more damage, shields are forbidden, and sunlight reveals your position with Glowing while your head is uncovered.
Mineral Diet
Consume quartz and amethyst instead of ordinary food:
| Mineral | Food restored | Additional benefit | Cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nether Quartz | 4 points | — | 5 seconds |
| Amethyst Shard | 4 points | 10 saturation points | 5 seconds |
| Amethyst Block | 8 points | 20 saturation points + Regeneration I for 20 seconds | 15 seconds |
Right-click to consume quartz or shards. Sneak-right-click to consume blocks. These foods share a cooldown, and saturation cannot exceed your current food level.
With Amethyst Additions, enchanted amethyst apples and carrots are also edible, retaining their original nutrition and effects.
Primary Ability — Amethyst Shot
Launch an amethyst shard with a crystal particle trail.
-
15-second cooldown
-
Armor-scaled Slowness I–III for 2–3 seconds
-
Glowing for 12 seconds
-
Applies Hunger I for 15 seconds to the caster
Secondary Ability — Hard Shell
Toggle Resistance II at the cost of Hunger IV.
Hard Shell has no cooldown, but requires more than 6 food points and automatically ends at 6 or fewer. Your primary ability is unavailable while the shell is active.
Crystal Ascension
Defeat both the Wither and Ender Dragon, in either order, to evolve. Your progress survives death and reconnecting.
Before ascension, you can wear diamond armor. After ascension, you unlock compatible armor at diamond tier or higher, including explicitly supported Amethyst Additions armor.
Mending remains forbidden. Compatible armor benefits from 1.5× effective Unbreaking durability and 1.5× Thorns damage.
Your primary ability also transforms into Crystal Dominion:
-
Raise a line of amethyst clusters along the ground for up to 14 blocks.
-
Strike multiple enemies along its path, with each target damaged once per wave.
-
Inflict Slowness II for 8 seconds and Glowing for 12 seconds.
-
40-second cooldown.
-
Pillars emerge and slowly retract without placing or destroying blocks.
An occasional subtle sparkle marks your awakened form.
Damage and optional spell scaling
Both primary attacks use:
Damage = 8 + 0.65 × current armor + 0.10 × bonus Spell Power points
With Iron’s Spells ’n Spellbooks, global Spell Power and Ender Spell Power combine. Only the effective bonus above the neutral 100% baseline adds damage.
For example, 30 armor + 50% effective bonus Spell Power = 32.5 damage, before damage reduction.
Without Iron’s Spells or a positive spell-power bonus, the formula remains 8 + 0.65 × armor. This integration adds attribute scaling to the Origins abilities; it does not add a spellbook spell or consume mana.
