This mod adds two rival Origins related to the Sculk Horde: the Pure One and the Infester, as well as stages/evolutions for each. The Pure One must defeat the Sculk Horde, while the Infester will join and spread it.

I would love to get any feedback you have after playing as these origins. Feedback is how I will continue improving this mod. Please, comment here or post in the #addon-sculk-horde-origins channel in the Team Peril Discord!

Config options - sculk_horde_origins-common.toml

Infester Options

Make Infester only available through commands
Change the spawn location of the Infester (0 = Default spawn | 1 = Ancient City | 2 = Sculk Tomb)

Pure One Options

Make Pure One only available through commands
Modify a list of what armor is "Pure" (Default: Golden Armor)
Modify a list of what items are "Slightly Pure"
Modify a list of what items are "Moderately Pure"
Modify a list of what items are "Extremely Pure"

Other Options

Enable/Disable recipe to craft two amethyst shards from an amethyst block (Default enabled)

Note: To enable and disable other powers, look for these origins in the config file origins-common.toml (Careful - this might cause errors with certain powers)

Origin powers and descriptions:

Pure One

The Pure One is very strong against the Sculk Horde, capable of purifying large areas of infection quickly, especially in the later stages of the Horde. Without the Horde, it is no stronger than a human. While the Horde is active, The Pure One cannot sleep, and it has difficulty traveling far from the center of the overworld or entering other dimensions. The Pure One must manage its Purity carefully - running out can prove life-threatening.

"You are a guardian of Purity. Your sole purpose is to defeat the Sculk Horde and cleanse the world. Even with all of the power of Purity, this task will take everything you have, and more."

Powers

🟢Power of Purity

"You slowly absorb Purity from around you and from the Sun, golden foods, golden armor, and from holding certain Pure items. It can be seen through your Purity Meter."

Maximum of 21 units of Purity (Not to be confused with the purity status effect)

🟢Purity Levels

"Equipping more golden and pure items will increase the rate of Purity regeneration and may grant additional benefits at higher levels. Your level can be seen through the Purity Rate Meter."

Purity Sources:
Natural Regen - 1 unit per 8 seconds
Sunlight - 1 unit per 8 seconds
Pure Chestplate - 1 unit per 8 seconds
Pure Leggings - 1 unit per 8 seconds
Pure Helmet & Boots - 1 unit per 8 seconds
"Slightly Pure" items* (Essense of Purity) - 1 unit per 8 seconds
"Moderately Pure" items* (Pure Souls, Blade of Purity) - 3 units per 8 seconds
"Extremely Pure" items* (Heart of Purity) - 8 units per 8 seconds
Golden Carrot** - 6 units
Golden Apple** - 18 units
Enchanted Golden Apple** - max units

*Pure Items must be held in main- or off-hand
**Gold foods provide only temporary purity when eaten

🔴Draining

"You are infused with Purity. Using up too much Purity can cause you to be exhausted and weak, to the point of withering away."

Starts applying mining fatigue at 9 Purity units remaining, and applies worse effects if lower
At worst (1 unit or empty), applies mining fatigue, slowness, weakness II, nausea, and wither II

🟢Holy Fire 🔵Ability - Primary 🔴Armor Condition

"You can fire a beam of focused Purity to deal damage and purify a small area. This ability is blocked when wearing a non-golden helmet."

Cost: 2 units of Purity
2 second cooldown
6 damage (or 12 damage to sculk mobs) + 8 seconds of burning (max range 40 blocks)
2 block radius of purification

🟢Cleansing Flames 🔵Ability - Secondary 🔴Armor Condition

"You can infuse Purity into everything around you to deal unblockable damage and purify a large area. This ability is blocked when wearing a non-golden chestplate."

Cost: 6 units of Purity
6 second cooldown
15 damage + 7 seconds of burning (6 block radius)
7 block radius of purification

🟡Trail of Purity 🟡 Armor Condition

"Walking on infested ground will drain your Purity meter, but may purify the ground. Wearing non-golden boots will prevent this."

Purifies an infected block below you (if possible)
If any block below you is infected, has a 40% chance of costing 1 unit of Purity
0.2 second cooldown
(Also converts dirt to grass, and will purify normal sculk in a 3x3x3 area)

🟢Pure

"The Purity you radiate grants resistance to most of the Horde's diseases."

Note - this is not immunity. It will quickly cure diseases, though.

🟢Pure Touch

"The extreme levels of purity in your punches will give anything you touch purity, and each punch has a chance to burn servants of the Horde."

13% chance of 6 seconds of burning

🟢Comfort

"Peace and Comfort radiate from Purity, allowing you to tame animals without using items."

Warning: the Horde Consumes - especially pets

🟢Gift of Purity

"You can make creatures immune to the Horde's diseases by feeding them an Essence of Purity."

Gives the target the Pure Ones's "Pure" power and the Infester's "Immune" power

🔴Drawn

"The Horde is at the center of the Overworld. The further you get from it, the more Purity you lose, as the Purity within you is pulled towards its purpose."

Begins taking effect when 1000 blocks from (0,0) and most potent when 4000 blocks from (0,0) or in another dimention
Lore reason: Purity exists only to destroy the Sculk Horde. If you chose to run away, you are defying its sole purpose, so it escapes you like a golden vapor, leaving you as a husk.

🔴Restless

"If the Horde never sleeps, neither will you. You must defeat the Horde."

🟡Will of Purity

"Cleanse the world of 100 servants of the Horde. When the Horde matures, Purity will increase your power. When there is no danger, it will leave you in peace."

Requires "Assimilator" advancement and gravemind "Mature" stage to evolve to Angel
If the Horde is not awakened or is defeated, will (de)evolve to Pure One (Dormant)

Pure One (Dormant)

Stage of the Pure One when the Horde is not active

"You are a guardian of Purity, but there is no great threat upon this world. Purity has no single focus, and your powers are faint. However, you must be prepared for when the time comes that this world needs a guardian. The Sculk Horde is always near."

Angel

Evolution of the Pure One after completing the "Sanctifier" challenge and reaching "Mature" stage

"You are a guardian of Purity. The Sculk Horde has grown out of control, so all of Purity is uniting with you in order to defeat it. The fate of the world is in your hands."

Adds:

🟢Vision of Purity

"You can sense servants of the Horde through their impurity."

All Sculk Entities will glow (visible through walls)

🟢Warmth

"The warmth of Purity leaves you unharmed by lesser forms of heat."

Immunity to fire and magma block damage (not lava)

Infester

The Infester is a servant of the Sculk Horde. It is weak before the Horde awakens, and its sculk-infused flesh is frail. The Infester is strengthened and quickened when near the infested lands of the Horde, but in order to survive, it must go outside the Horde's influence to gather food, craft, and mine. Where it travels, the Horde is quick to follow.

Tip: Just like with other creatures created by the Horde, Wardens are still hostile, and might be the main threat in the early-game.

"You are a creation of the Sculk Horde, with flesh of sculk and the sole purpose of spreading your Master's influence. You must aid the Horde in its conquest using the powers it has given you."

Powers

🟢Friend of the Horde

"You are a member of the Horde. The Horde will not harm you."

🟡Arise

"You spawn in the Deep Dark, in an Ancient City." OR "You spawn in the Sculk Tomb, the cage of your Master." (Config option)

🟢The Horde Consumes

"You absorb mass from nearby sculk and from killing mobs, but you will slowly consume it. It can be seen through your Mass Meter."

Maximum of 21 units of Mass (not to be confused with the Sculk Horde's mass)
Drains 1 unit every 45 seconds
Replenishes 1 unit every 15 seconds if surrounded by sculk
Replenishes 1 unit upon killing any non-sculk mob (plus 1 health and 1 hunger)

🔴The Hunger

"You starve, slow, and weaken when low on mass."

🟢Reinforcements 🔵Ability - Secondary

"You can summon sculk allies to help you, at the cost of much mass."

Cost: 15 units (or 5/7 of the Mass Meter)
50 second cooldown
(Summons at least a sculk creeper and mite, plus anything the Horde wishes)

🟢Sculk Mining

"You can break infested blocks without diamond tools and sculk will occasionally drop as a block."

5x break speed

🟢Sculk Sense

"When near a sculk sensor, the Horde will show you any mobs it can sense. Non-sculk mobs near sculk will glow yellow, while all sculk mobs will glow blue."

All entities will glow (through walls) when within 6 blocks of a sculk sensor

🟢Corrosive

"Every living thing you touch has a chance to corrode."

10% chance of 7.5 seconds of corrosion
(Corrosion is an effect similar to poison)
(Always applies the Lure effect)

🟢Sculk Boost

"You can move much faster on infected blocks."

Increases speed and step height by 1.6x using Pehkui
(Sneaking decreases step height to only 1.4x)

🟢Immunity

"You cannot be harmed by the Horde's effects."

Immune to Darkness, Lure, Burrowed, and Diseased Cysts

🔴Fungal Weakness

"Your flesh of sculk is fragile. You have 2 fewer hearts."

80% of normal health, or 16 out of 20 hitpoints

🔴Soul Tax

"The Horde will absorb any experience you collect while near sculk."

(Also prevents exploiting sculk's xp drop)

🔴Searing Purity

"Purity and Purifiers eat away at your flesh of sculk, causing burning and withering."

Applies 6 seconds of burning and wither III if given the Purity effect (removing the effect)
(Applies 3 seconds of poison II, weakness II, and slowness II if within 11 blocks of an Infestation Purifier)

🟢Linked

"Prove yourself by killing 100 passive mobs and the Horde will reward you - once it matures."

Requires "Assimilator" advancement and gravemind "Mature" stage

Herald

Evolution of the Infester after completing the "Assimilator" challenge and reaching "Mature" stage

"You are a masterpiece of the Sculk Horde. When the Horde reached its full strength, it gave you a Mind, Heart, and Soul, turning you into one of the strongest beings this world has ever seen. Go forth unto all nations, and proclaim unto all: The Horde approaches."

Adds:

🟢Sonic Blast 🔵Ability - Primary

"You can fire a powerful and piercing Sonic Beam at the cost of mass."

Cost: 1 unit of Mass
20 second cooldown
20 damage (max range 40 blocks)

🟢Resummoning

"When you die, you will not be sent to spawn. Instead, you must bring your soul to a sculk summoner for you to be recreated."

Places you into a form of spectator mode, allowing you to fly to a Sculk Summoner.
(A particle effect will point to a nearby Sculk Summoner.)

🟡Final Sacrifice

"Should your master be defeated, your heart would make a worthy sacrifice."

Suprise! This ability prevents the Horde from being permanently defeated, or at least gives the Herald one last chance to revive it.
Effect (Spoiler):

Upon the Horde's defeat, the Herald will lose more max health (sets base health to 10 points, or 5 hearts) and will have a Dormant Heart and Chunk o' Brain placed into its hands (enough to convert the dormant heart to a Heart of the Horde in order to revive the Horde).
It is implied that these were the Herald's heart and brain.
