SBC Hunting Dimension
⚠ Actively under development — updates ship frequently
A dedicated hunting dimension for NeoForge 1.21.1 where mobs are tougher, loot is better, and the hunt never ends.
Perfect for modpacks that need a dedicated mob grinding area with configurable difficulty and rewards.
✦ Features
🔮 Portal System
Build a frame from Hunting Frame blocks (oak planks with a lime green overlay), then right-click with any sword to activate. Portals can be any size from 2×3 up to 21×21 and behave exactly like a nether portal — break one frame block and the portal collapses. Crouch inside the portal to teleport between dimensions.
Portals are linked just like vanilla nether portals — travel back and forth without creating duplicates. Portal positions are saved to world data and persist across server restarts.
🌙 The Hunting Dimension
A flat, endless plains biome locked in permanent midnight. No ores, no lakes — just grass and hostile mobs as far as the eye can see. Structures like villages and pillager outposts can spawn, giving hunters landmarks and additional challenges.
When you first enter the dimension, you receive Resistance V for 5 seconds to survive the initial mob rush.
💀 Enhanced Mobs
All mobs spawning in the hunting dimension receive configurable buffs:
- Health Multiplier — Mobs have 1.5× health by default (configurable)
- Damage Multiplier — Mobs deal 1.5× damage by default (configurable)
- Armor Bonus — Mobs gain +4 armor points by default (configurable)
Use the blacklist/whitelist system to control exactly which mobs can spawn. Block creepers from ruining your loot, or create a whitelist-only dimension with just the mobs you want.
💎 Better Rewards
Risk equals reward in the hunting dimension:
- Looting Bonus — All mobs drop items as if you had +2 looting levels (configurable)
- XP Multiplier — Mobs drop 2× experience by default (configurable)
- Bonus XP Chance — 25% chance for even more bonus XP on each kill
🎮 Spawn Control
Full control over what spawns in your hunting dimension:
- Hostile Mobs — Enable/disable hostile mob spawning
- Passive Mobs — Disabled by default (it's a hunting dimension, not a farm!)
- Modded Mobs — Allow or block mobs from other mods
- Blacklist Mode — Block specific mobs (e.g.,
minecraft:creeper)
- Whitelist Mode — Only allow specific mobs to spawn
🔊 Portal Ambience
The hunting portal emits eerie ambient sounds. Enable monster sounds in the config to hear zombies, skeletons, spiders, and other creatures calling from the other side — a warning of what awaits.
⚙️ Configuration
All settings are stored in a clean sbc_huntingdimension.json file in your config folder:
- World generation options (flat/default/amplified terrain, structures, features)
- Mob spawning rules (blacklist, whitelist, hostile/passive/modded toggles)
- Mob buff multipliers (health, damage, armor)
- Loot and XP settings (looting bonus, XP multiplier, bonus chance)
- Portal settings (cooldown, monster sounds)
- Dimension settings (respawn behavior, time of day)
🧱 Blocks & Items
- Hunting Frame — Crafted with 8 logs surrounding a feather. Build a portal frame and right-click with a sword to activate.
🛠️ Crafting
Hunting Frame (yields 1):
[Log] [Log] [Log]
[Log] [Feather] [Log]
[Log] [Log] [Log]
Any log type works (oak, birch, spruce, etc.).
📦 Modpack Developer Setup
- Drop the mod into your mods folder — it works out of the box with sensible defaults.
- Edit
config/sbc_huntingdimension.json to customize difficulty and rewards.
- Use the blacklist to remove problematic mobs (e.g., creepers that destroy drops).
- Or use whitelist mode to create themed hunting dimensions (zombies only, spiders only, etc.).
- Adjust looting bonus and XP multipliers to fit your pack's progression.
- Build a hunting portal in your pack's hub area for players to access.
