What's new

[2.2.0] — September 3rd, 2026

A major Lore Codex update focused on easier browsing, better datapack support, and more ways to discover books.

Added

  • Improved Lore Codex browser with search, categories, filters, sorting, keyboard controls, and remembered browsing state.
  • Unread and favorite books. New books can be marked as unread, while any entry can be favorited for easier access.
  • Spare copy tracking for duplicate books stored in the Codex.
  • Better book tooltips showing details, category, and series information.
  • Added an optional Open Lore Codex keybind.
  • Books now support clickable and hoverable text, including links, page changes, copied text, and optional commands.
  • Added support for longer book titles with automatic scaling and truncation.
  • Added /rpglore validate for checking lore definitions and /rpglore reload now provides a clearer reload summary.
  • Datapacks can now add lore books directly.
  • Books can now be discovered through mob drops, loot tables, and advancements at the same time.
  • Added tags, discovery hints, and series information for organizing and finding books.
  • Added an API and collection event for other mods to integrate with RPG Lore.

Improved

  • Opening a book now automatically marks it as read.
  • Existing saves automatically upgrade to the new format, with previously collected books marked as read.
  • The Codex interface has been redesigned with ribbon-style category, filter, and sorting controls.
  • Codex pages now fit 8 books instead of 7.
  • Search, duplicate handling, book-opening controls, and Curios slot visuals have been polished to better match the Codex design.
  • Book titles now have more room and use ... instead of being cut off.
  • Book loading and acquisition checks have been optimized for larger lore packs.
  • Reloading is safer: if book files cannot be read, the previous catalog remains active.
  • Added new options for controlling acquisition methods, discovery hints, unread markers, remembered searches, and interactive book commands.

Fixed

  • Starter Codexes are no longer lost when granted with a full inventory.

Compatibility

  • Network protocol increased to 3. Clients and servers must both update to 2.2.0.
  • Existing 2.1.x saves are migrated automatically.
