What's new

[5.0.0] - Beta 4

Breaking Changes

  • /rpessentials license giverp replaced by tempgive: temporary licenses now use /rpessentials license tempgive <player> <profession> <days>. They behave like permanent licenses with an expiration date.

  • Role management and sensitive config keys restricted: role management and sensitive config keys (staffTags, opLevelBypass, roles, autoUnwhitelistExtraCommands, LuckPerms groups) now require the OP level defined by opLevelBypass (OP 4 if disabled). Restricted entries are hidden or greyed out in the GUIs.

  • Reserved profession and role IDs: profession IDs can no longer match a role ID or a staff tag, and role IDs can no longer match a profession ID.

  • Death hours no longer rewrite globalEnabled: both systems now work independently.

Added

  • /rpessentials license tempgive: professions already owned are no longer suggested nor accepted.

  • Holder UUID and expiration date on license items: licenses now store both directly on the item.

  • notifyRefusedJoin config option (Schedule System): notifies staff when a player tries to join while the server is closed.

  • diceCooldownSeconds config option (RP Cooldowns): adds a cooldown to /roll and the dice GUI.

  • Automatic kick of players who are no longer allowed: online players are kicked when the schedule changed, their role changed or the server was force closed.

  • Live config reload: hand edited config files are now applied live, without /rpessentials config reload.

  • Invalid schedule time warning: staff are warned in chat when a schedule time is invalid.

  • Staff notes edit history: notes keep the original author and list every later editor.

  • Armor restriction enforcement: armor that a player is not allowed to wear is removed on equip, on license revoke or expiration, and on config change.

  • Reset nickname: You now have to confirm the reset of the nickname.

  • New button: a new button to refresh the GUIs is now her! (Be careful, refreshing a GUI will reset all the unsaved changes)

Improved

  • /rpessentials license reissue: now keeps the expiration date of temporary licenses.

  • /schedule layout: new layout with header, sections and special hours.

  • /rpessentials deathrp status: now shows the death hours status and the effective Death RP state.

  • Staff commands: they now work from the console and for staff defined by tag or group without OP.

  • Auto unwhitelist: it runs only during the midnight hour and no longer blocks the server thread on LuckPerms.

  • Config Manager refresh: applied changes now refresh schedule, tab list, roles, presets and nametag settings.

  • Default staffTags: builder was removed from the defaults.

  • README requirements: ImmersiveMessages and TxniLib are now listed as required on both sides.

  • GUIs Feedback: all the feedback sent by the GUI are now much more detailed.

Fixed

  • Config Manager lists corrupted: lists with commas (professionAllowedCrafts and others) were split and corrupted.

  • Config Manager "Add entry" button hidden: the button was not visible until scrolling.

  • Config Manager pending edit cancelled: saving a list without changes could cancel a pending edit.

  • Config Manager disconnecting the admin: values over the packet limit no longer disconnect the admin.

  • Profession wiped on restart: a profession name containing ; no longer wipes the profession on restart.

  • Chat messages hidden: messages containing "joined the game" or "left the game" are no longer hidden.

  • Refused join side effects: a player refused by the schedule no longer triggers a leave message nor updates last connection and playtime.

  • Next opening on /schedule: the next opening on /schedule and in the kick message now takes the current day into account.

  • Temporary license removing a permanent one: a temporary license can no longer remove a permanent one.

  • License items flagged as revoked for another player: items given to another player are no longer flagged as revoked for them, and the revoked flag is removed when the license is back.

  • Inverted wildcard matching on client sync: the client side restriction sync used inverted wildcard matching, and was sent twice.

  • Block placement and interaction: block placement now checks the placed block, and using a forbidden item on a door or chest no longer prevents opening it.

  • Tab list blur: it now takes dimensions into account, converts & prefixes and respects obfuscatePrefix.

  • Dice: /roll and the dice GUI ignore mute but have a cooldown, invalid dice are ignored and custom faces are trimmed.

  • World border in the Nether: players are no longer placed above the Nether roof (players already on the roof stay on the roof).

  • Nickname and nametag refresh: both are refreshed after /setrole, /rp selfnick and GUI changes.

  • Client state on disconnect: client nametag and restriction states are reset on disconnect.

  • Nickname leaking into player data: nicknames no longer leak into the player CustomName data.

  • Hardcoded French (oui oui baguette) texts: the Undo button and the config change summary are now in English.

Security

  • GUI packet validation: GUI packets are size limited and validated (names, item lists, container rules, permissions).

  • Profile GUI role check: the role sent by the profile GUI is now checked against the configured roles.

  • Sensitive config keys: they are hidden and rejected server side for staff below the required OP level.

Technical

  • Atomic JSON saves: saves are atomic and sequential, and unreadable files are moved aside instead of being overwritten.

  • Shutdown save order: the last logout and playtime are now saved on shutdown.

  • World switch reload: notes, death history, pending profiles and unwhitelist history are reloaded when switching world.

  • Daily tasks: the license sweep and auto unwhitelist no longer depend on an exact minute.

  • Death RP trigger: it no longer depends on the vanilla death message (showDeathMessages false is supported).

Migration Notes

  • giverp no longer exists, use tempgive in scripts, command blocks and documentation.

  • The default staffTags no longer contains builder, but existing configs must be edited by hand.

  • Staff relying on role management or sensitive config keys need the OP level defined by opLevelBypass (and when you first install the mod, the opLevelBypass will be set to 3).

Known issues

  • The license item shown in hand and the GUI have some unaligned lignes.

  • The line [STAFF] Server closed: you may remain connected is sent everytime you type a rpessentials command in the chat. (This is driving me crazy)

Personal notes

So hummm, yeah, Beta 3 was supposed to be the last Beta, but you know I had that amazing idea "And WHAT IF I decided to sent my code to Claude to check all the bugs?" Terrible idea... so there is still some little things to be modified or added, but for people on the beta, I think that this Beta 4 was much needed! Oh, and the release will be released very soon! I just need to polish 2 or 3 things.
