What's new

Main update: valley settings for rivers and lakes (gentler slopes in tall terrain), Deepslate Level, and fixes for CityWorld ReForged and Terralith.

ReTerraForged 0.0.27 for Minecraft 26.3 (NeoForge and Fabric). Requires Java 25. A fork of ReTerraForged (racoonman2 / TerraForged), LGPL-3.0-only.

What's new in 0.0.27:

  • River and lake valleys (Rivers page, new Valleys block, #29): with tall or stretched terrain a river could cut a mountain range with sheer walls. Valley Width (x0.5 to x3) makes the valleys of rivers and lakes wider, Steepest Valley Side (10 to 90 degrees, 90 = no limit) cuts the ground beside a river or lake back to that slope, and Valley Follows Meanders drops the dry valley floor that was left beside a river where it bends away. Gorge Chance (0 to 95 %) sets how many rivers and branches run in a gorge: steep sides close to the water (25 %, the default, picks every valley as before). All of these keep the valleys of 0.0.26 by default.
  • Deepslate Level (World page, #32): the height where stone gives way to deepslate (with deepslate ores below it). 0, the default, is vanilla's.
  • Snow Line Follows World Height (World page): vanilla makes biomes colder above y 80, so in a world much taller than 320 most land snowed instead of raining (and snow has no sound). With this on, the height counts as in a world of the vanilla height. On in the built-in presets; at the default world height of 320 nothing changes.
  • Settings screen: every option button explains on hover what each choice does (and its old name), On/Off switches, Placement Seed, structures Generates, and sliders a switch turns off are greyed out with a note.

Fixes:

  • CityWorld ReForged with "Land: Vanilla, cities apart" gave a world of ocean only: CityWorld builds its own overworld generator, which ReTerraForged never set up. It now gets the preset's terrain (#30).
  • Terralith's oases and sandstone valleys keep their sand (Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.2; 26.3 builds its surfaces another way and was not affected the same way) (#28).

With the default settings existing worlds and the built-in presets generate as in 0.0.26 (checked: a world made by 0.0.26 opened with 0.0.27 has the same ground as a new one).

Tested: the release jars on real NeoForge 26.3.0.76 and Fabric 0.19.5 + Fabric API 0.162.0 servers on every version (self test, preset export, the Default world, NeoForge and Fabric generate the same terrain, a 0.0.26 world opened with 0.0.27); the valley settings on a reporter's preset (steeper than 63 degrees: 10.8 % of the land before, 4.5 % with Steepest Valley Side 35, 0.4 % with x2 width); CityWorld ReForged's vanilla land (the same terrain as a plain ReTerraForged world of the seed); Terralith (sand in its oases and sandstone valleys).

Known issues: changing the strata settings of an existing world (by replacing its preset datapack) changes the strata of new chunks, so cliffs may show a seam at the border of the old ones. The valley settings change new chunks only: turning them on in an existing world leaves a seam at the border of the old chunks. Extreme sea levels (see the tooltip). With William Wythers' Overhauled Overworld its forests grow its own trees instead of the ReTerraForged ones; on Fabric it needs Fabric Loader 0.18.5 or newer. Report problems at https://github.com/Vladeezyy/reterraforged/issues.

Singleplayer: Create World: ReTerraForged is on by default with the Default preset. To pick another preset or change settings, press ReTerraForged Settings on the Game tab, then Done. The "experimental settings" warning is normal, press Proceed.

Server: put the jar into mods/, and for a new world the preset datapack reterraforged-preset-26.3.zip (from this release) into world/datapacks/ before the first start.
