Recompile

A world buried under its own rubbish, where the recipes went in the bin with everything else. Vacuum the piles up or send a robot to do it, tear your finds apart to relearn them, and go looking through the sewers and a drained aquarium for the rest.

What's new

Freight

  • Every freight rung is an advancement now, under a Freight tab: the rung's own name, and a goal on the last one. Everyone in the world gets it when a rung ships, because the tier belongs to the world, and a player who joins later is given every rung already delivered. A modpack can hang its quests off them.
  • A finished phase is announced to everyone on the server, not only to players in the same dimension as the terminal.

Something is floating on the tailings

  • The pond on top of a tailings heap is its own liquid now. It looks the same - the pale turquoise was always the point - but it is not water and it never was drinkable. You cannot fill a Rain Collector from it, it will not water a crop, and standing in it makes you hungry and poisons you.
  • The poison will not kill you. It stops at half a heart, for you and for an animal that wanders in. Anything that goes under can still drown, the same as in leachate.
  • You can bucket it, which is the only way to drain a pond and make a plateau safe to walk. Drain one and it stays drained.
  • Only in ground that has not generated yet. A pond you have already seen stays water.

The frontier rebuilds too

  • Rubble piles and tailings heaps grow back, the way garbage mounds have since v0.7.0. Work a demolition yard or a tailings field out and it refills, one block falling from the sky at a time, while you are somewhere near enough to watch.
  • Rubble piles sit on Rubble Ground, a paler dirt than the yard floor. It is what remembers the pile, the way Mound Ground does at home.
  • The radioactive dump can never be cleaned up, and that is the trade. Green a mound's footprint or a rubble pile's and it is retired for good; stained ground does not take grass, so the dump keeps giving and keeps being the dump. Its scarcity is the land now, not the ore.
  • Only new worlds. A yard or a dump you have already been to stays as finite as it was.

Screens

  • A freight line could show as delivered when it was not, and the manifest's "more" hint sat on top of its last line. Only on a delivery phase asking for more goods than the screen shows at once, which nothing shipped does - but a pack can write one with a single file.
  • Buttons make a sound now. Deploy, Recall, Sell and the Depot's two radius arrows were all silent, which mattered most on the ones whose result you cannot see: Deploy puts a machine into the world behind the screen you are looking at.
  • Scrolling lists say which way you can go. The Buy Terminal, the Freight Terminal and the crafting shelf all only ever advertised the way down, so the middle of a long list looked like the end of it.
  • The Sell Terminal no longer takes a click when there is nothing to sell, and the Hauler Depot's radius arrows no longer take one at their limits.
  • The Buy Terminal opens on the first freight rung. The Totem, the Heavy Core and the Powder Snow sheet, which no rung gates and which cost more than a new player can have, used to sit above it. They are listed after the ladder now.

Hover, creative and the guide

  • Hovering an Animal Bait says what the land is drawing, for example "Expecting Rabbit, Cow, Sheep" on sand: the three likeliest animals from the ground around it, worked out the same way the bait picks.
  • The creative tab is back in order, grouped by kind and then by how far out you find each thing. Bulky Waste no longer sits among the piles you pick through, and the dump's finds sit with the other finds. Recipe viewers list items in the same order.
  • The guide explains the new regrowth: the demolition yard entry says rubble piles come back and that grass retires them. The Rain Collector's pages now always open in the same order.

Textures

  • The netherite Garbage Vacuum and Sledgehammer are violet, not the near-black they were. At the top of a tier ladder they read as a second iron, which is the one thing the top tier should not do.
  • The Pigeon and Roach spawn eggs come from the mob they are about - the parrot and silverfish eggs rather than the chicken - so the speckles are the right speckles. Same colours as before.

Other mods' tweaks go back to the pack

  • The four re-themed Simple Magnets recipes are no longer part of the mod. They shipped here only because the modpack had no way to ship data of its own; it does now, so it ships them. Playing Trashlands, nothing changes - the same recipes, from the pack instead of the mod. Playing Recompile on its own alongside Simple Magnets, its magnets go back to costing what Simple Magnets asks for them rather than Magnet Scrap.
  • The same goes for AE2's Inscriber presses and Ender IO's blaze rod grinding. Playing Trashlands, the crate at the bottom of a sewer still holds all four presses and the SAG Mill still refuses a blaze rod. Playing Recompile on its own with AE2, the crate holds no presses; with Ender IO, the SAG Mill grinds a rod back into powder again.
  • Grains of Infinity come from the pack too. Playing Trashlands, Mechanical Waste still turns them up, now alongside a normal pull rather than in place of one. Playing Recompile on its own with Ender IO, Mechanical Waste no longer carries them; Ender IO's own fire crafting on deepslate still does.
  • AE2's certus, fluix, silicon and sky stone routes stay in the mod. They run on its own machines.
