What's new

Project Hero 0.16.2

NEW STRUCTURE -- THE CITY

  • A big, rare city now generates in the world: tall buildings, avenues, ring roads and a village edge that blends into the countryside around it. It is still a working village, full of villagers.
  • 16 buildings, each with a real use: Police Precinct, City Bank, Hospital, Fire Station, Daily Bulletin newspaper office, Maintenance Depot, Market Square mall, Central Park, Train Station, Clock Tower, apartment towers, office skyscrapers, brownstones, townhouse rows, warehouse docks and a construction site. Vanilla village houses are mixed in at the edges.
  • City Maps lead you to the nearest one.
  • REPAIR WORKERS (hi-vis vest, hard hat) rebuild what fights break. 10 minutes after the last damage in an area, in work hours, a worker walks out of the Maintenance Depot and rebuilds it bottom-up, one block every half second, climbing scaffolding for high spots (up to 512 blocks a trip).
    • Holes are worked from the rim, never from inside. Any villager or animal standing in a hole is lifted out before it is closed (if you are standing in it, he leaves that bit until you move). A stuck worker clambers over to his work spot instead of fixing blocks from far away.
    • Your own blocks are never replaced: build in a damaged spot and that corner is yours. Containers come back empty, the bank vault's treasure comes back as stone bricks, and rebuilt blocks drop nothing for a day.
    • With no workers left the depot hires one each day, and damage slowly fills in on its own.
  • CITY COPS work the Precinct Desks: 40 health, armour and a baton. They patrol, fight monsters and answer crimes (after 20 seconds, hitting crooks softly, so you still matter). They never attack players unless you hit them first. Use a desk to read the crime reports.
  • THE HOSPITAL: Regeneration II inside. Doctors throw Healing potions at hurt players and villagers, and sneak + use a doctor with 2 emeralds for a full heal that cures poison, wither and hunger.
  • THE FIRE STATION: firefighters run to anything burning in the City and put it out.
  • THE BANK: a Safe Deposit is your own emerald vault (every one opens the same account). It pays 1% a day, up to 64 emeralds of interest.
  • THE DAILY BULLETIN: librarians sell a newspaper listing today's crimes, raids and world events within 1000 blocks, nearest first, with directions.
  • THE FOOD BANK: a crate of produce in the Market Square. Villagers with spare food (mostly farmers) carry it over, and you can use food on it too. Every 60 food (12 bread) becomes a newborn villager, at most one an hour and only while a bed nearby is free. Craft one (barrel + hay bale + bread) to grow any village.
  • /projecthero city status | repair | sweep | optout | reset, the gamerule projectheroCityRepair, and config/projecthero_city.json.

NEW WORLD EVENTS -- STREET CRIME

  • Muggings, break-ins, getaways and arson break out near villages, for any player. Syndicate crooks commit them; stop them before the cops arrive.
  • Iron golems can't solve crimes for you, and the crooks' guards only target players.
  • Syndicate guns now fire real, dodgeable bullets, aimed like a skeleton's, with the Punisher's muzzle flashes and gun sounds.
  • /projecthero crime for operators, and its own config.

SPIDER-MAN -- THE BIG UPDATE

  • SUIT V2: the classic red and blue suit. Craft each piece from your old suit piece plus materials (and a phantom membrane); you keep the old piece.
    • Web Wings: hold Space while falling to glide.
    • Trip Mine (Shift+C): shot out like a Web Shot, it sticks where it lands and snares whatever crosses its laser.
  • Suit web capacity: the original suit +50% webbing, Suit v2 +80%.
  • New suit item icons for both suits.
  • Movie-style mask take-off / put-on animation (H).
  • BLACK SUIT REWORK: the Hunger meter replaces the flat buffs. Feed it to climb from Restrained to Bonded to Overdrive, then risk Let It Take Over, and crash if you push it too far. Six swapped moves: Tendril Lash, Spike Burst, Consume, Ink Shroud, Let It Take Over and Slam.
  • NEW MOVES:
    • Inverted Takedown: left-click an unaware mob below you while hanging upside down.
    • Perfect Dodge: press Jump during the Spider-Sense warning (a generous window) for a double-damage counter.
    • Wall Run: sprint along a wall.
    • Swing Tricks: tap Space after letting go of a swing. Two new two-handed swing styles too.
    • Upside-down Hang (Z) from a ceiling, a woven web or a tightrope: no length limit, faster reel, Weave Mode while hanging, jointed frog-hang pose.
    • Ledge Perch: sneak still at a 3+ block drop or on a fence, wall, post or pillar top for the classic crouch.
    • Web Pin (Shift+V): mark a target, Shift+V again to drag it to the wall, floor, ceiling or web you aim at and cocoon it there for 25 s. It goes round obstacles on the way.
    • Web Snag (Shift+V while standing on your tightrope or woven web): reel the aimed target onto the strand beside you and cocoon it (3 s cooldown).
  • WEBS:
    • A real braided silk web line, and released strands drift down and sway gently in the breeze.
    • Web Shot, Web Bomb and Web Yank have no cooldown.
    • Every cocoon is the full one. A Web Shot on a stuck target cocoons it for good (sneak + right-click to release), three quick Web Shots cocoon for 25 s, and a cocoon breaks open once its web is gone.
    • Full-charge Impact Web (charges in 0.5 s): huge knockback and a full cocoon, pinned to the wall it slams into. A swing-thrown enemy that hits a wall at speed gets pinned the same way.
    • Web Bomb: bigger (6 blocks), carpets the floor of its whole area with cobwebs, and webbed creatures can't fire projectiles.
    • Web Wall is 7x7. Swing Throw onto a woven web sticks the target to it. Pulling frees a stuck target without breaking the web.
    • Iron golems can be thrown (only bosses and huge bodies can't). A mob cocooned on your web never sets off the web alarm.
  • STEALTH: mobs notice you from 85% range walking, 60% sneaking and 40% crawling, perched or hanging (less in the dark). An ambush on an unaware mob does +50% damage and stuns it for 1.5 s. Chasers lose track after 4 s out of sight. A stealth eye on the HUD.
  • CLIMBING: much easier wall crawl (W climbs up, step onto a wall from the ground, slide round blocks jutting out, mantle over the top). Point Zip onto a ceiling now sticks you to it. Swinging measures its ceiling from the ground below you (16 blocks), so you can swing up mountains.
  • The traversal guide is easier to read.

EVERYONE

  • Physics Flight: press , to switch any hero's flight between Regular and Physics (momentum) flight.
