Project Hero 0.16.1

NEW RAID -- THE FROST GIANT ASSAULT

  • A rift to Jotunheim tears open above your base in a blizzard, and King Laufey's Frost Giants march through it. A Hero-tier siege raid: few enemies, each one huge.
  • Start it: craft a Jotunheim Rune Stone (blue ice, packed ice, a Heart of the Sea, a lodestone, chiseled stone bricks), place it and right-click it at night in Survival. It becomes the Rift Anchor. (An optional config switch lets worthy Thor players get one naturally during snowy thunderstorms.)
  • The arena: a 56-block circle under a swirling rift. Fighters are locked in; anyone who walks in joins; a fighter who dies is down until they walk back in. Everyone down = defeat.
  • The cold: the blizzard freezes you (the powder-snow frost effect, then freeze damage). Four Rune Braziers keep you warm (and heal you with Regeneration I). The giants go out of their way to stomp them out. Relight one by holding right-click for 3 s (instantly with flint and steel, a fire charge or a fire power). All four out = the blizzard doubles.
  • Snow builds up across the arena during the fight and all of it melts away when the raid ends. Your own blocks are never touched.
  • Eight waves, getting heavier each time (the last one brings TWO Warlords at once):
    • Rime Hounds: frost wolves in packs that circle, howl and dart in.
    • Jotun Raiders: ice-spear warriors who advance in pairs, war-cry and throw ice javelins.
    • Frost Shamans: casters who raise ice walls, encase wounded giants in ice and blast you with Frost Nova. Kill them first.
    • Ice Brutes: 7-block brazier smashers with a charge and Glacier Spikes.
    • The Frost Giant Warlord: an 11-block mini-boss with an ice greatsword, cleaves, a sword-plant spike ring and a Rally war cry.
  • THE BOSS: King Laufey (14 blocks), in three phases:
    • The King's Court: a fan of ice spears, Royal Guard summons, and Frozen Grasp (an ice prison your allies break you out of).
    • The Casket Opens: Winter's Breath cone beam, Ice Pillars to hide behind, Avalanche Slam.
    • Ymir's Wrath: the first Frost Giant reaches through the rift. Palm Slams and Glacial Sweeps. Stagger Laufey (lightning, a fast prison break, or burst damage) and smash the Casket of Ancient Winters to win.
  • All-new custom models, painted from scratch to match the movie and comic Jotnar: deep blue ridged skin, glowing red eyes, glowing ice weapons and crystals, fur, leather and bone gear. Fully animated, with swaying beards, braids, robes and capes.
  • Fire, lava and fire powers do x1.5 to giants; Thor's lightning does x1.25.
  • Rewards: Rime Shards, the Jotun Skull trophy, loot, and on your first ever clear the Casket of Ancient Winters (off-hand artifact: freeze immunity, walk on powder snow, Winter's Breath, Ice Prison).
  • Rime Shards: Rimed netherite armour (+toughness, full-set freeze immunity) and Rime-touched Mjolnir / Stormbreaker (thrown hits freeze) at the smithing table.
  • /projecthero raid start|end|advancetimer frost_giants.

NEW WORLD EVENT -- GALACTUS: THE DEVOURER

  • The biggest threat in the mod. Galactus, devourer of worlds, comes for yours. He can't be killed, only driven off.
  • How it starts: once your world has beaten the Ultron Contagion or the Frost Giant Assault, a cosmic signal can draw him in (rare). Or call him on purpose: craft a Herald's Beacon (end crystals, a netherite ingot, amethyst blocks, a nether star, crying obsidian and a beacon), place it and right-click it at night. The sky turns deep purple with stars in broad daylight.
  • ACT 1 -- THE HERALD: the Silver Surfer streaks down on his board for an aerial duel: Power Cosmic blasts, light-speed dashes, an energy shield, and a cosmic lift that hauls you into the sky. Beat him down to 10% and he stops... and turns to your side. He fights with you for the rest of the event.
  • ACT 2 -- THE WORLDSHIP: a colossal ship fills the sky and Element Converters crash down around you. Each one eats the land around it, turning it grey and dead, and a world Consumption bar fills. Let it reach 100% and your world is consumed (you lose; everything is restored afterwards). Each converter is shielded by Punishers, Galactus's 9-block robot sentinels. Destroy them and break the converters.
  • ACT 3 -- GALACTUS: a 60-block colossus at the edge of the battlefield. Power Cosmic eye beams sweep the ground, his giant hand comes down to grab you and lift you to his face, he transmutes the ground into cosmic hazards, sends out a disintegration wave and summons more Punishers. Four power pylons shield him: tear them down, then break his weak points (the glowing G on his chest, his helmet crest, his gauntlets).
  • THE ULTIMATE NULLIFIER: every destroyed converter drops a part. With all the parts, the Silver Surfer assembles the one weapon Galactus fears. Hold right-click on him with it and he retreats into the stars.
  • Everything he consumes is restored exactly when the event ends -- win, lose or cancelled. Your own builds are never touched.
  • Rewards: the Silver Surfer's Board (right-click to summon it under you and ride a very fast flying surfboard -- sprint for a Power Cosmic boost, jump to climb, sneak to hop off; sneak + right-click to pack it away), the Power Cosmic (an off-hand artifact: a cosmic blast, and a shield on sneak + right-click), Galactus's Helmet Crest trophy, and cosmic loot scaled to your party.
  • All-new custom models: Galactus in his classic Kirby armour, the Punishers, the Element Converters, the Worldship, the Nullifier and the board.
  • /projecthero raid start|end|advance galactus for operators.

ULTRON -- A MUCH HARDER UPRISING

  • 7 waves (was 5) and 4 pylons on a 24-block ring (was 3). Pylons are tougher, repair faster, and are shielded (a red shell) while 3+ Ultron units guard them: clear the guards first.
  • Every Ultron hit does 30% more damage. Tougher drones, sentinels, heavies (4 missiles) and snipers (they move to another pylon after each shot). Up to 36 units alive.
  • No adaptation: your attacks always do what they say.
  • NEW: Ultron Lancer. A shielded front-liner: the hex shield blocks projectiles from the front. Flank it, hit it from above, or punish the 2 s after each lance lunge.
  • NEW: Ultron Hijacker. Cloaked until close, then latches on and jams one of your ability keys for 6 s (and drains Iron Man suit energy). Hit it to break the latch. The Mind Stone and Iron Man's highlight reveal it.
  • Ultron Prime (1600 HP + 450 per extra fighter): Overclock, a double Encephalo-beam sweep, and Network Override, which jams all your abilities for 4 s (dodge it by breaking line of sight). His reserve pylons are shielded until he drops below 50%.
  • Ultron Sentry (2600 HP + 600 per extra fighter): the chest cannon now tracks you, Fist Rocket (a homing forearm you can shoot down), and Reconstruct at 50% and 25%, absorbing drones to heal. Kill the drones first.
  • Old worlds get the new numbers automatically (the config updates itself).

ULTRON -- THE CONTAGION (NEW)

  • "You can't kill an idea." A few in-game days after you first beat the Uprising, Ultron comes back as a world infection.
  • Ultron Nexus spires grow near players and spread red nanite corruption over the land. Mobs inside become Assimilated (plating, red eyes, red bolts; creepers become EMP mines), iron golems become Ultron Golems, Stark machines get compromised, and Iron Man suits face hijack attempts.
  • A world-wide Saturation bar fills while spires stand. 25%, 50% and 75% each make things worse. At 100% the finale starts whether you're ready or not.
  • Fight back:
    • Capture a Nexus with an Override Spike: hold the circle while Ultron throws everything at you. The Mind Stone makes it 40% faster.
    • Purge Charges clean corruption and stun robots.
    • Firewall Beacons protect your base.
    • The Firewall Chip makes an Iron Man suit hijack-proof.
  • Every corrupted block is recorded and goes back exactly as it was. Your own blocks and anything with stored contents (like chests) are never touched.
  • Three captured spires let JARVIS trace him. The Sokovia Protocol: a floating sky-citadel 90 blocks up, a Vibranium Core charging toward the drop, and Ultron Omega in four phases:
    • Omega: vibranium combos, knockback blasts toward the edge, rotating beams.
    • Legion: decoys that heal him. Only the Mind Stone or Iron Man's scanner shows the real one.
    • Iron Legion: hijacked Iron Man suits.
    • Upload: cut three antennae before he escapes into the network.
  • The Vision moment: finish him with the Mind Stone Beam.
  • Falling off the citadel is never instant death.
  • Rewards:
    • Vibranium, the Vibranium Shield, Vibranium Plating II and the Omega Core trophy.
    • First win: the Empowered Mind Stone (with the Mind Stone Beam).
    • Iron Man players: permanent hijack immunity.
  • He can come back stronger (v2, v3...) unless you keep your Firewall Beacons fuelled. All of it can be switched off in the config.
  • /projecthero contagion start|stop|status|saturation|trace for ops.

NEW LOOKS -- ZOMBIE RAID, SPY AND SUPERVILLAIN BOSSES

  • Powered Zombie Bosses: a brand-new custom model, a grave champion whose glow takes its power's colour, with power-themed horns, shards, coils, vines, orbiting stones, wings or spines, and full animations synced to its casts and attacks.
  • Supervillain bosses, brand-new custom models with full animation sets (intro roar, melee, shooting, slams, casting wind-ups, death):
    • The Chimera: a lion-and-ram beast-man with a serpent-headed tail, mismatched claws and its glowing core caged in its ribs.
    • Arsenal: gunmetal power armour with a glowing reactor, a twin shoulder cannon, a spinning rotary gun and a heat blade.
    • The Omega Mage: a hovering crowned sorcerer with an omega-crystal staff and orbiting rune tablets.
  • New detailed skins: Armoured Raid Zombie, Acid Zombie (glowing acid sacs), Juggernaut (glowing mask slits), Cursed Zombie (glowing runes), Sword Skeleton (real sword and shield) and Pillager Spy (hood, cloak, crossbow). Glowing parts glow in the dark.
  • Plain and baby Raid Zombies keep the classic zombie look; regular zombies are unchanged.

NEW GAMERULE -- UNIQUE POWERS

  • /gamerule projectheroUniquePowers true: each hero power (Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and the rest) can only be held by one player at a time. Great for servers.
  • Trying to get a taken power is refused with "<power> is already held by <player>". Your serum, item or ritual is NOT used up.
  • The power frees up when its holder loses it. Mutations can still be shared.
  • /projecthero uniquepowers list shows who holds what; ops can release a power.

WOLVERINE

  • New claw model: smooth, curved, tapered blades that slide out of the fist.
  • New claw combo (left-click with claws out): a rising right slash, a left backhand across the chest, then both arms raised high and raked down into an X. Real wind-ups, body twists from the hips, blades cutting edge-first, in first and third person. Holding the mouse no longer restarts the swing.
  • New claw deploy on H: arms raised in front of the face, thrown down to the sides, claws pop out. (Claws that come out for an ability just appear; there's no retract animation.)
  • Every ability got a full animation with the same treatment.
  • NEW Shift moves (Sneak + the key), each with its own animation, effects and cooldown:
    • Shift+R Rising Uppercut: launches the target into the air.
    • Shift+G Whirlwind: two full-body spins hitting everything around you.
    • Shift+X Pounce: leap onto a target and pin it while raking it (bosses just take the hits).
    • Shift+V Bleed Flurry: six fast slashes in a cone that leave a short bleed.
    • Shift+C Feral Roar: knocks back and weakens nearby enemies.
  • Z is now Berserker Plunge: leap high and slam down claws-first, hitting everything around you. Adamantium Execution moved to Shift+Z (otherwise unchanged).
  • The HUD shows each key's Shift cooldown as a thin bar; hold Alt to see the move names.
  • Thin slash trails follow the claw tips on attacks, abilities and the Claw Dash leap (red during Rage), plus sparks.
  • Fixed a stray purple particle that floated around Wolverine.
  • Popping the claws still costs 4 health, but no longer flashes him red or plays the hurt sound.
  • Real sniffing sounds on Shift + N.
  • Wolverine Suit repairs 1 durability per second after 30 s out of combat.
  • Claws mine like an iron shovel and an iron axe. Right-clicking blocks does nothing (no dirt paths, no stripped logs).
  • His strength bonus works with any weapon you hold (the guide used to call it unarmed).

PUNISHER

  • Punisher armour can now be enchanted (Protection, Thorns, Unbreaking, Mending, and the boot and legging enchantments).

GREEN LANTERN

  • NEW construct: Sniper Rifle. C forms a hard-light rifle. Hold right-click to scope in (5x), hold attack to charge, release to fire a bolt that hits instantly out to 120 blocks (22 damage at full charge, 25 ring charge a shot).
  • The Hard-Light Tool Kit now includes a Hard-Light Spyglass (pickaxe, axe, shovel, flint and steel and spyglass).

SPIDER-MAN -- THE BIG REVAMP

  • Swinging is always available: HOLD RIGHT-CLICK with an empty hand to swing, let go to fling yourself with your momentum. It no longer takes an ability key.
  • Swinging is much faster (top speed +44%, more push through each arc, momentum carried on release, a boost when you chain swings) and fully animated: your arm tracks the web line, your body hangs and swings with the arc, legs trail and tuck, and you get one-arm, two-hand, cannonball and corkscrew-spin styles.
  • Fixed: holding right-click sometimes shot a web that let go instantly (when high above open ground, or when brushing a wall).
  • Sprint + Jump in the air: Zip Boost toward the nearest surface you aim at (within 50 blocks; with nothing in range it's just your double jump).
  • Wall crawling starts by itself when you run or fly into a wall. Press N to switch automatic wall crawling on or off.
  • In first person, every web line now leaves your wrist.
  • 18 moves on R, G, X, Z, V and C (tap / Shift / hold each key):
    • R: Web Shot (a spinning web glob) / Web Bomb (a lobbed web bomb that bursts into real cobwebs and roots a group) / Impact Web (charged, pins enemies to walls).
    • G: Point Zip (zip to a spot, or onto one of your ropes and land standing on it) / Web Yank (pull an enemy in or rip their weapon away) / Zip Kick.
    • X: Web Strike (zip in for a punch combo) / Uppercut Launch (air combo) / Spider-Sense Counter.
    • Z: Web Whip / Grab & Hurl (a mob or a loose block) / Web Swing-Throw.
    • V: Spider-Sense Pulse (highlights every enemy for you, speed and a dodge window) / Web Cocoon / Web Blossom.
    • C: Tightrope / Web Wall / Weave Mode.
  • WEB BUILDING: tightropes up to 40 blocks you can walk on, hang under and swing from; join them into networks by anchoring a new rope on an old one. Weave Mode: click 3 to 10 anchor points (up to 30 blocks away) and a giant flat spider-web forms centred between them, like the Amazing Spider-Man 2 sewer web. You and your squad walk and climb on your webs; anyone else gets stuck and your Spider-Sense pings you. Webs fade after 5 minutes and never change the world's blocks.
  • Real cobwebs: Web Bomb, Impact Web and Web Blossom leave temporary cobwebs (gone after 18 s, never dropped as items; you and your squad aren't slowed).
  • Web effects (slowness, roots, pins, cocoons) now last 18 seconds; Web Cocoon lasts 30 s. Bosses get a short, weaker version.
  • New skin-tight suit (no more bulky shell).
  • Shift+N mutes your Spider-Sense and web alert sounds.
  • SPIDER-SENSE REWORK: a new threat ring around your crosshair (red: a hit about to land, orange: an approaching or aiming enemy, yellow: hazards) with icons and up/down arrows; the classic comic tingle lines around your head (others see them too); warnings for enemies behind you, players and mobs winding up or aiming at you (outlined just for you), projectile path lines, invisible enemies and traps. Dodged projectiles are always swatted aside and 40% are sent back at the shooter. Dodge chances are unchanged.
  • The old N Traversal/Combat mode switch is gone (everything is always available).

THOR

  • STORM-CHARGED: during a thunderstorm Thor deals 30% more damage with everything (crackling lightning shows it).
  • Dual wield Mjolnir and Stormbreaker for a new 4-hit combo (hammer blow, axe sweep, cross swing, leaping double slam), fully animated in first and third person.
  • TWIN THUNDER STRIKE: land the 4th combo hit and he raises both weapons, lightning strikes them and he slams them down: 20 damage around him, a knock-up and a ring of lightning bolts (20 s cooldown, never hits allies).
  • THUNDER FIELD (Shift+G): hurl your weapon into the ground and electrify a 5-block area for 4 seconds, then it flies back to you.
  • Stormbreaker has a brand-new, much more detailed model.

ANIMATION FIXES

  • Suit-ups and transformations no longer push the bottom of the torso forward off the legs (Thor, All Might, Max Steel, Moon Knight, Symbiote). The body now bends from the hips.
  • The same fix for every ability pose that leans the body (Thor moves and combos, Moon Knight, Iron Man, Green Lantern, mutations, Kingpin, Carnage).

GUIDEBOOK / MENUS

  • New Guidebook chapters: Frost Giant Assault (with an Enemies section describing every unit), the Ultron Contagion and Galactus.
  • Updated chapters: Spider-Man (the whole new kit and web building), Thor (storm, dual combo, Thunder Field), Ultron Uprising (Lancer, Hijacker, new numbers), Wolverine, Green Lantern constructs and Tool Kit, Punisher crafting, and the overview (Unique Powers).
  • The Iron Man spec sheet shows Vibranium Plating II and the Firewall Chip.

BEHIND THE SCENES

  • Faster releases: the release reuses the already-tested build instead of rebuilding it, tests run across 8 machines, and a randomly failing test gets one automatic retry instead of blocking the update.
