Portable Vintage Radio 0.4.4 — Forge
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Portable Vintage Radio 0.4.4
Initial public release for Minecraft: Java Edition 26.2.
Highlights
- Added Fabric and Quilt, Forge, and NeoForge support.
- Added a worldwide radio directory powered by Radio Browser, with search, favorites, saved stations, station details, and resilient station-icon fallbacks.
- Added live artist/title metadata, UTF-8 international text support, scrolling long titles, and optional album-art lookup through the Apple iTunes Search API.
- Added playback for MP3, AAC-LC, HE-AAC/AAC+, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Opus, and supported HLS streams.
- Added cancellable background connections and safer station switching so repeated tuning cannot leave stale streams running or the interface stuck on “Tuning”.
- Added placeable and carryable radios with synchronized multiplayer positional audio.
- Added an accurate configurable broadcast radius from 8 to 64 blocks.
- Added priority handling for overlapping broadcasts. The first active radio claims the shared area, while later radios fade out locally.
- Added entering and leaving notices for nearby radio broadcast areas.
- Added per-listener volume, mute, and music-note particle controls.
- Added the
/pvr listenercommand so listener settings are available without owning a radio. - Added colorful note particles emitted from placed radios and radios held in either hand.
- Added four selectable casing styles: Heritage, Riviera, Field, and Midnight Deco.
- Added the Portable Vintage Radio crafting recipe.
- Added the optional Portable Vintage Radio HD resource pack with complete high-detail model coverage.
Fixes and polish
- Fixed numeric station metadata IDs appearing at the end of song titles.
- Fixed malformed character encoding in international artist and song names.
- Fixed long metadata overflowing the interface.
- Fixed intermittent station switching failures, stale connection buildup, timeouts, and tuning-state lockups.
- Fixed first-load audio work blocking the client thread in several paths.
- Fixed radio distance calculations so the selected range corresponds to real block distance.
- Fixed held-radio particles spawning from the player's body or directly in the first-person camera.
- Fixed missing station images by adding homepage icon discovery and generated fallback badges.
- Improved album-art matching and ensured track artwork takes priority only while a matching song is playing.
- Fixed Forge and NeoForge sound-engine access without unsafe loader-specific casts.
- Fixed Forge 65.1.2 startup by using the compatibility level supported by its bundled Mixin runtime.
- Corrected HD textures across the radio bodies, handles, antennae, trim, rope wrapping, line direction, and Heritage corner pieces.
- Synchronized the mod JARs and HD resource pack at version 0.4.4.
Notes
- Fabric API is required for the Fabric and Quilt file.
- Forge and NeoForge have no separately installed library dependencies.
- Internet access is required for station discovery, streams, remote icons, and album-art lookup.
- Encrypted, byte-range, and fragmented-MP4 HLS playlists remain unsupported.
- Station availability, metadata, icons, and artwork depend on third-party services and can change without a mod update.
