Mortal Boons rolls you attribute bonuses. This add-on raises the stakes: with it installed, the Fatestone can roll you **abilities** — a second chance at death, a hunter's rush on every kill, walls that stop refusing you. Real behavior, not just bigger numbers. And like every boon, death takes them all back.
Requires **Player Abilities** and **Mortal Boons**. Visit the website for more info or to see some of my other mods.

## How it works
Ability boons join the normal Fatestone pool and follow its rules — tempt fate with an offering, hold up to three boons, lose everything on death. Abilities never appear at Iron tier: they are the reward for a good roll. The higher the tier, the stronger the ability it grants.
- **Gold** rolls an ability at level I
- **Diamond** raises it to level II
- **Netherite** raises it to level III
The strongest abilities refuse to appear below Diamond at all.
Granted abilities live in the Player Abilities book and HUD. Passives can be toggled, triggered abilities show their cooldown and recharge progress, and everything is revoked the moment the boon is lost.
## The boons
<insert ability_icons_row.png here>
**Guardian Angel** — *Bear, Diamond and up.* When a blow would kill you, you survive it and recover 25% / 75% of your maximum health. Once an hour, fate steps in.
**Second Wind** — *Bear.* Dropping below 30% health steadies you with Regeneration I / II / III for 30 seconds. Fifteen-minute cooldown.
**Bloodscent** — *Wolf.* Every second kill leaves you hunting: Strength and Speed for up to 12 seconds. The kill is not the end of it.
**Swift Step** — *Hare.* Once you have taken 10 damage, the next hit sends you moving: Speed for up to 15 seconds.
**Spider Climb** — *Wyrm, Diamond and up.* Climb any wall like a spider. Sneak to cling in place. No wall refuses the wyrm.
More abilities are coming — the roster is still growing toward a full set of passive, triggered, and active abilities across all five signs.
## For pack makers
Everything here is datapack JSON, shipped as a removable built-in datapack ("Mortal Boons Player Abilities Defaults"). Turn it off in the world-creation datapack screen and ship your own boon set wholesale, or override individual boons at `data/playerabilities_mortalboons/mortal_boons/boons/`. Ability numbers — cooldowns, effect strength, levels — can be overridden per ability through Player Abilities' own datapack config at `data/playerabilities_mortalboons/player_abilities/<ability>.json`.
## Notes
- NeoForge, Minecraft 1.21.1. A 1.20.1 Forge build is planned.
- Player Abilities 1.0.5+ required, Mortal Boons 1.1.0+ optional-but-the-point.
