What's new

PixelCross 4.7.7

The biggest PixelCross update so far: a full HUD editor, a set of animations, a crosshair gallery with share codes, and a separate bow crosshair. Everything below is new since 4.4.3.

✨ New

HUD editor

The hotbar editor is now a full HUD editor (Edit HUD in settings). Besides the hotbar and status bars, you can move and resize:

  • Text above the hotbar: the held item name and the action bar ("Now playing…", bed and server messages). It rides on the hotbar by default or goes anywhere on its own, with separate survival and creative settings (in creative, vanilla puts the item name lower). A small heart/block button picks which set you're editing.
  • Mob effects, with icons in a row or in a column. The icons always grow away from the nearest screen edge, so they never run off screen. The newest effect appears closest to the edge, and the others glide one step further away.
  • Boss bars at the top of the screen.
  • Spectator HUD (its own tab, eye icon): the spectator hotbar and its hint text, each with its own position and size.

How it works:

  • Hotbar & Bars is one element while the bars ride on the hotbar: click either one to select both, then move and resize them together. Together / Separately splits them into two independent elements, or joins them back.
  • Click an element to select it. A softly pulsing outline shows what's selected and what moves with it.
  • Elements that aren't showing right now appear as 50% placeholders with real-looking text: your held item's name, the Ender Dragon, "Teleport to Player".
  • Elements snap softly to the screen-center lines, can't leave the screen, and Reset glides everything back to vanilla. Esc cancels all changes.
  • The panel sits in the middle of the screen, so the boss bar and the hotbar are always reachable. Right-click grabs an element even when it's under the panel.
  • The editor opens on the spectator tab when you're a spectator, otherwise on the survival settings.

Animations (Animations… in settings)

Hotbar

  • Slot slide: the selection highlight slides smoothly between slots, with optional carousel wrap. It also works on the spectator hotbar.
  • Auto-hide: the hotbar and bars fade out, drop down, or just dim after a while without activity, with adjustable delay, speed and dim level. They come back when anything changes: switching slots or hands, damage, hunger, air, armor, experience, your mount, a horse jump, or the spectator menu. The text above the hotbar and the player dots on the locator bar follow along.

Crosshair

  • Hit marker: a short X flash around the crosshair when you hit a mob or a player. It works with both the vanilla and the PixelCross crosshair, and on the cursor while the HUD is hidden. A big crosshair never covers it.

Text

  • Text appear: the held item name, the action bar and the spectator menu hint can fade, slide up or pop in, with adjustable time. While it's on, Immersive Hotbar's animation of these texts is paused.

Crosshair

  • Crosshair gallery: 16 ready-made designs (dot, plus, CS-style gap, ring, X, brackets, T, chevron, box, diamond, scope and more), plus your own crosshairs.
    • Set as Main / Set for Bow (or double-click to set as main), Edit (opens it in the editor; Save to Gallery puts it back), Delete (click twice), Restore Built-in.
    • The + tile adds your current drawing to the gallery.
    • Small marks show which crosshair is your main one and which is the bow one.
  • Share codes: Copy Code turns a crosshair into a short text code (PX1:…) you can send to friends. Paste Code adds one to your gallery. Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V work too.
  • Bow crosshair: draw a second crosshair (Drawing: Bow) and turn on Bow Crosshair in the gallery. PixelCross switches to it automatically while you hold a bow, crossbow or trident in either hand.

Other

  • Mod Menu button to open the settings from the mod list (optional, not required).
  • Hover tooltips on every button and slider.
  • Ctrl + Click on a preset slot clears it.

🔧 Changed

  • Settings screen is more compact (shared rows for related buttons and sliders) and titled simply Settings.
  • The attack cooldown indicator stays visible with the PixelCross crosshair. It keeps its size and moves down just enough that a big crosshair, the hit pulse or the target zoom never covers it.
  • The moved HUD stays on screen when you resize the window or change the GUI scale. Making the window bigger again puts everything back where you placed it.

🐛 Fixed

  • The PixelCross crosshair now follows all of vanilla's crosshair rules: hidden in third-person (F5), shown in spectator only when you look at a mob or container, replaced by the XYZ axes with F3.
  • The cursor shown while the HUD is hidden (F1) is no longer drawn in third-person view.
  • The attack indicator no longer shakes under a big crosshair while the hit pulse plays.
  • Player dots on the locator bar now move, resize, fade and hide together with the bar.
  • The crosshair could stay hidden if the game closed the HUD editor by itself (death, kick, disconnect).
  • With auto-hide on, the spectator teleport menu could stay invisible.
  • Settings are also saved when the game closes the settings screens by itself.

🤝 Compatibility

  • Shoulder Surfing Reloaded: its over-the-shoulder view keeps the PixelCross crosshair (including the aim-following one) and the F1 cursor.
  • Immersive Hotbar: no double animation of the hotbar texts while PixelCross text animations are on.
  • Every hook was checked against the real Minecraft 26.2 code. Localized into 14 languages.
