Changelog
Picasso+ 1.1.0 – for Minecraft 26.3 (Fabric)
First public release.
Added
- Picture walls. One image can now cover a whole rectangle of item frames, from 2×2 up to 64 blocks on a
side and 1,024 frames in total.
- The wall is a single object: one texture, one animation clock and one set of settings. All tiles always show the same animation frame.
- The image is continuous across the frames, with no seams. The wall is also lit as one surface (one shared light level), so a torch or lantern next to it does not cause brightness steps between frames.
- Border: Frame draws a wooden border around the outer edge only. Border: None makes the wall completely borderless.
- Walls work on walls, floors and ceilings.
- Larger walls automatically get higher-resolution textures, up to the Wall texture setting (4096 px by default).
- Wall editor.
- Connected frames are detected automatically.
- The selection is shown directly in the world: green for present frames, red for missing ones, yellow for the frame you started from.
- Width, height and position can be adjusted with buttons.
- Add missing frames fills gaps. This is free in Creative; in Survival the frames come from your inventory.
- Existing walls can be resized without choosing the image again. Remove wall turns the tiles back into plain frames.
- WebP support: lossy and lossless images, transparency, and animated WebP with correct frame timing, loop count, blending and disposal.
- Animated PNG (APNG) with all disposal and blend modes.
- CMYK and YCCK JPEG files, such as print or Photoshop exports, now load correctly.
- New display options: zoom (100–400 %), image position (left/right, up/down) with a reset button, and a border option for single frames and walls.
- World library clean-up: Find unused images lists imported images that no frame or wall uses any more.
Pressing the button again deletes them. The clean-up is careful:
- The world is saved first, and every saved entity chunk of every dimension is searched.
- If any saved data cannot be read with certainty, nothing is deleted.
- Images imported in the last 10 minutes are always kept.
- Only Picasso+'s own copies inside the world folder are deleted, never your original files.
- New settings: maximum wall size in the editor, wall texture resolution, and whether new pictures start without a border.
Changed
- "Choose file…" in exclusive fullscreen: the game now switches to windowed mode while the Windows file dialog is open and returns to fullscreen afterwards. Before, the dialog could open hidden behind the game.
- Rendering: frames that belong to a wall share one texture per image and size. Wall tiles skip the vanilla frame model, and each tile draws only its own part of the image.
- Memory: in a 15-minute test with every benchmark picture on screen, heap and video memory stayed constant (283 MB heap, 995 MB video memory, no growth). Pictures that are not visible are still released after 60 seconds.
- The bundled decoding library (TwelveMonkeys ImageIO 3.15.2, BSD-3-Clause) ships inside the jar, together with its license notice. Nothing else has to be installed.
Fixed / stability
- Every frame that belongs to a wall is checked when it loads. A picture can never appear on an unrelated frame, even after chunks were unloaded or a frame was removed while far away.
- Walls that cross chunk borders stay intact when parts of them unload and load again.
- Damaged or truncated PNG, APNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP files are rejected with a message instead of causing errors.
