What's new
Peon 1.4.2 — the world update
An idle mining game that runs inside Minecraft. You get a plot, a rock face and a pickaxe; everything else you build.
New in this build
- Fabric API is bundled. Drop the jar in
mods/and play — nothing else to install. - A hand-painted look. A sky with a soft sun, drifting clouds and high cirrus; warm colour grading with distance haze, a glow on lanterns and a light vignette; cartoon water in turquoise bands with foam crests; light drifting over grass and fir needles; the block you aim at lights up instead of showing a thin black outline. All of it switches off from the pause menu.
- Grass grows over its neighbours. Dirt, paths, gravel and moss get a tongue of grass on every side touching a lawn — no more checkerboard.
- The Alley train. A four-wagon convoy pulls in every three minutes, waits twenty seconds and leaves. Board it to travel: the avenue, the podium, your own mine, or any neighbour's plot.
- A smaller HUD built from the interface kit's own plates, and every gain now floats up above the counter as it is paid.
- A rank strip above the hotbar: your grade, your rebirths, your shafts.
- Disconnect screens worth reading. Eight cases — banned, kicked, server full, restarting, wrong version, lost link, modified client — each with its own emblem and what to do next. Full and restarting retry on their own.
- Chat: a coloured edge on system lines and mentions, an unread count on the system tab.
Fixed and hardened
- The shop crashed the client when opened. It is also three columns now.
- Two commands were open to everyone and could be repeated for free money.
- Reconnecting in a loop no longer rebuilds ten thousand blocks each time.
- Connection flood protection. A burst of fake logins is turned away at the door, per address and overall, and told to come back in a moment.
- A modified client that floods the server is dropped, then disconnected with a reference code it can quote.
- The flood guard's own settings were skipped when Peon loaded before its watcher — they are now applied when the server starts, every time.
- The Alley train could hang a server. It swept a four-thousand-block box twenty times a second looking for its own leftovers, and it left a new pair of entities behind every time it crossed an unloaded chunk. It now finds its carriages by id, and only sweeps once per run.
