Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
New
- Jack the Ripper (undead, assassin, level 40): a very thin, 2-metre undead in a navy bodysuit with purple trim, white buckled straps, a white star-eyed mask, green flame hair and scalpel-bladed gloves. He appears in the Katze Plains and fights like an assassin:
- his claws make the target bleed;
- he vanishes and rushes at a distant target, and his first strike out of the shadows hits 1.5 times harder;
- every 8 seconds, at close range, he slashes three times in a row.
- Corpse Collector (undead, monk, level 40): a hunched, 3.6-metre mass of red-brown muscle wrapped in bandages, with a metal disc on its forehead, skulls chained to its shoulders and a plated belt. It also appears in the Katze Plains and fights bare-handed:
- heavy punches that knock back;
- every 10 seconds, a ground slam that hurts, throws up and slows everything around it;
- every creature it kills heals it by 10%.
- Necromancers can summon both: "Undead Creation: Jack the Ripper" and "Undead Creation: Corpse Collector" (tier 5, one of each at a time, 4 minutes, half your level). They are class skills of every necromancer and exist as scrolls, never as skill books. Spawn eggs give independent undead with no master.
- Their gear, dropped only by wild ones, 10% per item:
- Jack the Ripper's Gloves (hands): bare-handed, +5 damage and the target bleeds; for an assassin, the claws count as a very light weapon.
- Jack the Ripper's Mask (face): creatures below level 30 (not bosses, not your allies) flee from you and stop attacking you; other players below level 30 nearby are weakened.
- Ripper's Outfit (bodysuit, trousers, platform boots; level 40): speed, attack speed and dodge; the full set makes every melee hit bleed.
- Corpse Collector's Bandages (headwrap, bandages, belt and knee wraps, ankle wraps; level 40): damage and physical resistance, and they never hinder a monk's freedom of movement.
- Both outfits look exactly like they do on Jack and the Collector, fitted to every race.
- The guide book covers both undead, their spells, and the rule that necromancy is never taught by skill books.
- Silk cocoons in brood nests: the white wool is replaced by real silk cocoons, either standing on the floor or hanging from the cave roof, with silk strands spreading at their base.
- Each cocoon holds the remains of the spiders' prey: bones, gold coins, arrows and the like, and often a worn piece of gear (armour, sword, axe, bow, shield).
- One cocoon in twenty is no container at all: when you open it (or break it unopened), it tears open and a revenant or a skeleton warrior crawls out.
Changes
-
Masks (Jaldabaoth, Ruby, Envy, Jack's): the mask now covers the face down to the bottom of the head and sits in front of it. The villager-style nose bump is gone. A mask only shapes itself over a nose on faces that actually have one (goblins, ogres, trolls), and it moves forward over a protruding face instead of sinking into it.
-
Old shields (lizard scale, tribal bone, dwarven plate, bulwark, dark knight), which no mob carried: the godkin renegade of the guild bounty now carries one when he is a knight or a paladin with a one-handed weapon, picked from those his level allows. He can drop it, like his weapon.
Fixes
- Masks: the strap no longer shows as a dark band across the face, and the mask no longer flickers against the skin or a helmet.
