Ornate

# Minecraft can build boxes. It cannot finish them.

There is no vertical slab to close an angle. No cornice to land a ceiling on a
wall. No chair you can actually sit in. **Ornate is the finishing layer** —
570 blocks that make a build stop looking like a box.

### The three blocks that were missing

- **Vertical Slab** — 87 of them, in every vanilla material. It places where
  you look: click a side face and it hugs that face; click the top and the
  quarter you aim at decides. **Click a vertical slab with another in hand and
  it doubles** — you never have to aim at the empty cell.
- **Corner (1/8 block)** — 83 of them. With the slab and the vertical slab,
  you finally have all three axes.
- **Cornice** — 55 profiles that **turn their own corners**, inner and outer,
  exactly the way stairs do. A room without a cornice always looks like a crate.

Plus beams and columns — and a column works out its own base and capital from
its neighbours. **55 vanilla materials**, so it matches what you have already
built.

### And 32 materials the game never had

Lime plasters · white, black and green marble · terrazzo, subway tile, mosaic,
azulejo · basket-weave and chevron parquet, board floor · wainscot and coffered
panelling · clay, slate and copper roof tiles, thatch · damask, striped, floral
and toile wallpaper · brass, riveted iron and iron filigree. Each with its slab,
stairs, vertical slab and corner.

### Furniture that behaves

- **You sit on it.** 72 pieces — chairs, stools, benches, sofas, armchairs,
  cushions. Right-click to sit, sneak-right-click to reach past it.
- **You store in it.** 33 pieces — cabinets, dressers, wardrobes, crates, the
  mailbox. One to three rows, comparator output.
- **It joins up.** Benches, sofas and desks read their neighbours and drop their
  armrests; tables link on all four sides and lose the legs in between; hedges
  and fences connect; curtains grow a rail at the top and a hem at the bottom.
- **You switch it off.** Every lamp. Chandeliers, sconces, paper lanterns,
  candelabra, braziers, a fireplace, a lamp post, a floor lamp, string lights —
  right-click and the room goes dark. A bedroom has to be able to be dark.

### Also

16 colours of sofa, armchair, cushion, rug and curtain. A garden — hedges,
planters, a climbable trellis, picket fence, paving, bird bath, mailbox.
Clutter that makes a room look lived in: books, teapots, cups, plates, clocks,
a mirror, picture frames, vases, a globe, a grandfather clock. And **12 new
paintings**, from 1×1 to 4×2.

### Crafting

Everything is made from what you already have — no ore, no new tool, no
dimension. Stone micro-blocks also go **through the stonecutter** (160
recipes), which is what makes them usable on a real build site: one stone in,
two vertical slabs out.
