Description

Open Modular Turrets Reborn
A fully rebuilt and rebalanced revival of the classic Open Modular Turrets mod, bringing modular automated defense turrets, upgrades, and addons to 1.20.1 with new materials, a reworked progression system, and a whole lot of firepower.
Inspired by and built upon the original work of Keridos and Open Modular Turrets 2. Many of the core systems, assets, and designs originate from the original Open Modular Turrets. This mod exists because their work was worth bringing forward.
This mod was built for the love of the game, but consider Buying me a Coffee
What is Open Modular Turrets Reborn?
OMT Reborn adds automated defense turrets to Minecraft that you craft, place, and configure to protect your base from mobs and players.
The core loop:
- Mine Ferronite, the mod's new ore, and process it into crafting components
- Craft a Turret Base: bases store power, inventory, and control all attached turrets
- Craft a Turret and place it on top of the base
- Load ammo, connect a power source, and configure targeting
- Upgrade your turret with addons and upgrades
- Defend your base!
Turrets come in multiple types across 5 tiers, from cheap disposable launchers to armor-piercing Rail Guns and Nether Star-powered Plasma Turrets.
Turret types:
- Tier I: Disposable Item Turret, Potato Cannon
- Tier II: Gun Turret, Grenade Turret
- Tier III: Incendiary Turret, Rocket Turret
- Tier IV: Relativistic Turret, Teleporter Turret
- Tier V: Laser Turret, Rail Gun Turret, Plasma Turret
Turret Bases support upgrade modules and addon blocks to customize your defense setup.
What's New
OMT Reborn is not a straight port. Significant systems have been redesigned or added:
Ferronite, a new material system: A new ore, Ferronite, forms the backbone of the mod's crafting progression. Mine it, smelt it into ingots, and process it into Ferronite Coils, Frames, Lenses, Blazing Ferronite, and Nethronite.
Reworked recipes: Every base, sensor, barrel, and chamber is now crafted independently with tier-appropriate materials. You can build exactly the tier you need without crafting everything below it first.
Tier I Base, coal powered: Get started sooner with the Tier I base. This base no longer requires RF power, and has a built-in fuel slot that accepts any vanilla furnace fuel.
Rebalanced stats: Every turret's damage, range, fire rate, energy cost, and accuracy has been rebalanced. Lower tier turrets are easier to start with, and higher tier turrets require serious energy infrastructure!
New particle effects: 6 turrets all have new visual particle effects on firing and activation, with more on the way!
New sounds: 3 turrets have new firing/activation sounds, with more on the way! All turret sounds now use distance-based attenuation.
Loot tables: Turret components can now be found in Nether Fortress and Bastion chests!
Integration of OMLib Open Modular Turrets Reborn is fully self contained, and does not have any external dependencies.
