Open Loader is a utility mod that allows data packs and resource packs to be applied globally across all save files. This can be used by modpacks and servers to define custom recipes and features for a wide range of mods. It can also be used to change textures, override tooltips, and change other visual aspects of the game.
Data packs are used by vanilla Minecraft to load recipes, loot tables, functions, and other game mechanics. Many mods are also joining in on the fun and allowing data packs to expand their own recipes and mechanics. Open Loader will load any data packs that have been placed in it's data folder. Forge users can use the ~/openloader/data folder. Fabric ursers can use the ~/config/openloader/data folder. OpenLoader can load zipped or unzipped packs. You can learn more about data packs here.
Resource packs are used to define textures, translations, sounds, and other client data. You can use them to override existing resources or add completely new ones. Forge users can use the ~/openloader/resources folder. Fabric users can use the ~/config/openloader/resources folder. OpenLoader can load zipped or unzipped packs. You can learn more about resource packs here.
