Nuky's Lights

Colored RGB and dynamic lighting for held items, mobs and dropped items, with smooth fades and stained-glass color mixing.

Nuky's Lights

Bring color to your Minecraft nights

Explore caves with a torch in your hand, fill your builds with colored light, and watch luminous items brighten their surroundings. Nuky's Lights brings RGB and dynamic lighting to Minecraft, with smooth transitions and in-game controls.

Take your light with you

Torches and other supported luminous items light up the world while held in either hand. Dropped items and mobs carrying light sources can illuminate their surroundings too.

Build with color

Light colors are detected from block models and textures, including your active resource packs. Choose your own color corrections in-game and create colorful spaces.

Light beyond placed blocks

Supported dropped items remain light sources as they move, bringing colored illumination into the scene.

Features

  • RGB lighting for luminous blocks.
  • Dynamic lighting for held items, dropped items and equipped mobs.
  • Smooth transitions: quick fade-in and an approximately one-second fade-out for mobile lights.
  • Stained-glass color mixing: stained glass and panes add their colors to the light. Clear glass preserves the color; tinted glass blocks it.
  • Light-source halos and supported temporary flashes, including lightning and TNT.
  • Three quality profiles: Fast, Moderate and Detailed.
  • Adjustable intensity, RGB processing distance and color palettes.

Easy in-game controls

Press N to open the settings, or use the button in the pause menu. Aim at a lamp and press K to open its color palette. Both keys are rebindable.

Color corrections apply to that block type and are saved for your active resource packs. When the mod is installed in the world or server, you can also craft a Light Tuner using an amethyst shard, glass and an iron ingot in a shapeless recipe.

Optional ultraviolet effects

UV gameplay effects are off by default. Singleplayer owners and server operators can mark lamp types as UV sources and enable mushroom growth or fungal sprouting. Sprouting can include fungal entities. These features require the mod on the server and can be disabled independently of visual lighting.

Installation

Minecraft 26.2 · Fabric · Java 25

Requires Fabric API and Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or later compatible with Minecraft 26.2. Use Fabric API 0.161.0+26.2 or a compatible newer build. Install the release JAR in your mods folder and remove older versions first.

Visual lighting works on servers without Nuky's Lights. The Light Tuner and UV gameplay features require it on the server too.

Compatibility and scope

Works with Minecraft's standard renderer. Optional compatibility has been tested with Sodium 0.9.2 for Minecraft 26.2. Other renderers and shader packs have not been validated.

RGB is a client visual effect and does not change vanilla light levels used for mob spawning. Lighting uses chunks and entities loaded by Minecraft. Stained-glass mixing is an artistic additive effect, and some multicolor models may need a manual palette correction.
