What's new

Nuka Enchantments adds 50 data-driven enchantments for combat, ranged weapons, maces, tridents, armor, tools, farming, and utility. Gameplay is decided on the server. Client visuals and sounds are optional and can be reduced or turned off.

Install the same JAR on the client and on a dedicated server. No other mods are required. Enchantment Descriptions can show the shipped description text if you have it installed.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.2
  • NeoForge 26.2.0.75 or a newer 26.2 build
  • Java 25
  • Client and dedicated-server install

What this release includes

  • 50 implemented enchantments, each defined as datapack JSON plus one Java effect module
  • Common config for enablement, chances, cooldowns, target/block caps, PvP, and boss effectiveness
  • Client config for VFX quality, particle density, signature effects, screen/camera feedback, reduced flashing, reduced motion, and sound volume
  • Staged visuals for rare and signature enchantments; common effects stay short
  • Operator commands under /nukaenchants
  • Dedicated-server support with client-only rendering isolated from the server
  • Item tags and exclusive-set tags for datapack compatibility
  • MIT license

Enchantment list

Treasure-only enchantments are marked. Max level is in parentheses.

Combat

  • Hemorrhage (III) - Charged melee applies stacking bleed. Refreshing stacks does not burst them. Reduced on bosses.
  • Thunderstrike (III) - Chance on a fully charged melee hit. Does not summon real lightning, start fire, or convert mobs.
  • Reaper (III) - Heals on hostile kills. Incompatible with Lifesteal.
  • Lifesteal (II, treasure) - Percentage heal with a cooldown. Hostile-only by default.
  • Executioner (III) - Bonus damage against low-health targets, with a hard cap.
  • Echoing Edge (II, treasure) - Charged sweep hits nearby hostiles. No friendly fire.
  • Chain Lightning (III) - Charged melee can jump to a limited number of nearby hostiles. Not vanilla lightning. Incompatible with Thunderstrike.
  • Void Mark (III) - Charged hits store marks that collapse into magic damage. Player targeting is off by default. Incompatible with Hemorrhage.
  • Duelist (III) - Charged bonus against exactly one nearby hostile. Incompatible with Echoing Edge.
  • Sundering (III) - Temporary armor reduction. Incompatible with Executioner.

Ranged

  • Homing (II, treasure) - Limited-angle projectile tracking. Incompatible with Multishot.
  • Ricochet (II) - One bounce per level.
  • Frostshot (III) - Short slowness on hit. Incompatible with Flame.
  • Detonation (II, treasure) - Non-destructive blast around the impact. Incompatible with Multishot.
  • Marksman (III) - Travel-distance bonus on fully drawn shots. Incompatible with Homing.
  • Pinning Shot (III) - Travel-gated slow. Incompatible with Frostshot. Compatible with Marksman.

Maces and tridents

  • Gravity Well (II) - Mace smash pulls nearby mobs inward. Players and bosses are exempt by default. Incompatible with Aftershock.
  • Aftershock (III) - Delayed smash shockwave. Incompatible with Gravity Well.
  • Returning Storm (III) - Damages each hostile once on the Loyalty return path. Compatible with Channeling.
  • Undertow (III) - Pulls a struck target toward the owner. Compatible with Loyalty. Incompatible with Tidal Wave.
  • Tidal Wave (II) - Wet charged trident melee sends a short cone of damage and knockback. Incompatible with Undertow. Compatible with Channeling.

Tools and mining

  • Vein Miner (III, treasure) - Breaks connected tagged ores up to a block cap. Sneak bypasses the effect.
  • Excavation (II, treasure) - Face-aligned shovel plane. Incompatible with Vein Miner.
  • Smelting (I) - Recipe-based smelt on mine. Incompatible with Silk Touch.
  • Prospector (III) - Present but disabled by default. There is no reliable placed-block tracker yet.
  • Lumberjack (II, treasure) - Chops natural trees unless configured otherwise.
  • Magnetism (III, treasure) - Pulls your recent mining drops only.
  • Wisdom (III) - Modest extra XP. Incompatible with Mending.

Movement

  • Windstep (III) - Sprint bonus that is removed when the boots are unequipped.
  • Double Jump (I, treasure) - One server-validated mid-air jump.
  • Featherburst (III) - Softens a hard landing and nudges nearby hostiles. Compatible with Feather Falling.
  • Cloudwalker (III) - Sneak-slowed descent. Not flight and does not reset fall distance. Incompatible with Double Jump.
  • Airbrake (II) - Server-validated elytra braking with a dedicated keybind.
  • Thermal Lift (II) - Bounded lift over tagged heat sources. Airbrake cancels the lift so the two cannot hover together.

Defense

  • Bastion (III) - Resistance while standing still.
  • Reactive (II, treasure) - Knockback pulse after a significant hit.
  • Last Stand (I, treasure) - Prevents one death, then stays on a long persisted cooldown.
  • Nightveil (I) - Server-authoritative darkness aid. Overlay strength is a client setting, not full-bright.
  • Reflection (II) - Timed shield block can return a projectile, with a bounce cap.
  • Aegis (III) - Brief damage reduction after lowering a charged shield. Compatible with Reflection.
  • Danger Sense (III) - Information-only incoming-projectile warnings. No gameplay change.
  • Spiked Guard (III) - Reflects a portion of blocked melee damage. Compatible with Aegis and Reflection.
  • Adrenaline (III) - Brief speed after a hard hit. Incompatible with Reactive. Combined speed with Windstep is capped.
  • Hunter's Sight (II) - Wearer-only outline on recently hit targets. Does not apply global Glowing. Compatible with Danger Sense.

Farming and utility

  • Angler's Bounty (III) - Chance of extra valuable fishing loot.
  • Grappling (I, treasure) - Pulls you toward a planted fishing hook. Flying casts and a fish-on-hook do not count as planted.
  • Replanting (I) - Replants mature tagged crops and consumes exactly one seed. Sneak bypasses the effect.
  • Green Thumb (III) - Chance of one extra produce. Compatible with Replanting. Fortune extras still apply.
  • Soulbound (I, treasure) - Returns enchanted equipment after death with a durability penalty. Incompatible with Vanishing Curse. Does not run when keepInventory is true unless configured.
  • Restoration (III) - Spends XP to repair equipment at full health. Incompatible with Mending. Compatible with Unbreaking and Soulbound.

Visuals and audio

Rare and signature enchantments use short staged animations: lightning arcs, gravity rings, shield hexes, tidal crescents, and similar silhouettes. Common enchantments only play a brief burst.

Client options include quality (LOW through ULTRA), signature-effect toggle, particle density, render distance, screen-edge pulses, optional camera impulse, reduced flashing, reduced motion, and sound volume. LOW still shows the main shape of an effect. Custom audio currently reuses vanilla Minecraft sound events.

Commands

/nukaenchants requires operator permission. Useful first-release commands:

  • list, info, conflicts, config status
  • give, book, apply, remove, removeall
  • cooldown get|clear

Test commands play visuals only and do not deal damage.

Configuration

nukaenchantments-common.toml controls gameplay and reloads at runtime.

nukaenchantments-client.toml controls visuals and audio only. It never changes damage, targeting, cooldowns, or other gameplay.

Enchantment JSON and tags still need a world or datapack reload.

Multiplayer

  • The same version must be installed on every client and the dedicated server
  • Double Jump and Airbrake requests are validated on the server
  • Last Stand and Soulbound state persist through death and logout
  • Hunter's Sight outlines are private to the wearer
  • Visual packets go to nearby tracking players only

Known limitations

  • Prospector is disabled by default
  • Homing will not make 180-degree turns and ignores players by default
  • Nightveil is a fog and overlay assist, not full-bright
  • Thermal Lift has no expensive heat-shimmer shader
  • Custom sounds are layered vanilla events, not original recordings
  • Returning Storm works with Loyalty; it does not hard-require it
