# ⚡ Nuclear Power Plant
**Build a real electrical grid in Minecraft – from a hand-crank generator and a single lamp to a complete power plant campus with control room, substations, renewables and a power market.**
Nuclear Power Plant is a large Fabric technology mod about *electricity that behaves like a grid*. Voltage, current, power and losses are calculated for every network you build. Cables can overheat, insulation ages, fuses blow, RCDs trip, water causes earth faults – and you are the one who has to keep the lights on for yourself, your friends and the villages around you.
> All reactor, fusion and plant mechanics are a **fictional, abstracted game simulation**. They are designed to be fun and understandable, not a manual for real installations.

## 🔌 Electricity that feels real
- **A real grid simulation:** every generator, cable and consumer is a node. The mod calculates voltage, current, power and line losses – there is no energy from nothing.
- **Free cable routing:** lay cables with the **cable reel** freely in the world – along walls, ceilings and floors, snapped to a 1/16 pixel grid, several cables per block, with branches and clamps.
- **Cable materials:** copper or aluminium, cross-sections from 1.5 to 240 mm², PVC, rubber, silicone or heat-resistant insulation – each with its own resistance, current rating and ageing.
- **Cable reels and drums:** reels keep track of their remaining length, big drums can be carried and unrolled.
- **Overhead lines:** wooden and steel lattice masts, **crossarms**, insulators and lines with realistic sag between the masts.
- **AC, transformers, rectifiers and inverters**, batteries, capacitors and a grid analyser.
## 🧰 Pixel-precise mounting (1/16 grid)
Small electrical components are no longer full blocks. Place them **freely on any wall, floor or ceiling, snapped to the pixel grid**:
- Lamps, toggle switches, sockets and terminals
- Circuit breakers, fuses, RCDs (residual current devices), relays, contactors and terminal blocks in DIN-rail format
- Several parts fit into one block; aim at a part to use or remove only that part
- Free cables snap to the terminals of the parts
- Convert any full-block device into its mounted version at the crafting table – and back
## 🛡️ Protection, faults and maintenance
- **Switch cabinets** with doors, DIN rails, breakers (B/C/D curves), fuses, relays, contactors and RCDs – including **selective tripping** and an event log.
- **Short circuits and overloads** trip protection or destroy unprotected parts.
- **Water causes earth faults:** wet devices trip RCDs and breakers, generators and lamps in water go out, and standing in water next to live parts can give you an electric shock. Wear insulating gloves!
- **Ageing and damage** from load, heat, weather and lightning. Repair with insulating tape or joints, find hot spots with the **thermal camera**.
- **Work orders and maintenance plans**, failure statistics and a maintenance log book.
## 🏭 From workshop to power plant
- **Generators:** hand crank, coal generator with a fuel inventory, diesel emergency generator and UPS.
- **Power plant systems:** pumps, cooling circuits, turbine/generator set, house load, alarms and a **reactor control game mechanic**.
- **Large power plant multiblock** with a step-by-step start-up procedure, synchronisation and load following.
- **Substations**, busbars, black start and grid restoration after a blackout.
- **Renewables:** wind, solar and run-of-river with weather forecast, curtailment, **pumped storage** and **battery containers**.
- **Endgame:** fusion research (fictional), cryogenics and superconducting cables, **hydrogen** (electrolysis, storage, fuel cells), **district heating** and **HVDC** long-distance transmission.
## 🖥️ Control room and tools
- **Control desk** with analogue gauges, trend recorder, alarm lamps and synchroscope.
- **Monitor walls** that show live values from your grid.
- **Multimeter, clamp meter, voltage tester and energy meter** – hold a meter and a **HUD** shows voltage, current and power of the block you are looking at.
- **Thermal camera view**, alarm toasts for trips and emergencies, and a grid view overlay.
- Click GUIs for the **handbook**, shift book, maintenance board, switch cabinet, scenario editor, replay, research tree and power market.
## 🏘️ Villages, economy and multiplayer
- **Supply villages:** house connections, street lights, supply quality and villager happiness.
- **Power market and contracts**, smart meters, variable tariffs and demand response.
- **Logistics and heavy transport:** forklift, heavy cart and portal crane.
- **Technician NPCs** and a full **research tree**.
- **Multiplayer shift operation** – everything is server-authoritative.
## 🎓 Scenarios and campaign
- Guided **tutorial scenarios**, scenario packs with ratings and a **scenario editor**.
- **Replay** of disturbances with slow motion and jump to events.
- A **two-part campaign** from your first circuit to running a power plant, plus an endgame on a generated power plant campus.

## 🚀 Getting started
1. Open the creative tab **“Nuclear Power Plant”** (or craft the items in survival).
2. Place a **hand-crank generator**, a **lamp** and connect them with a **cable** (or lay a free cable with the cable reel).
3. Right-click the generator to crank it – the lamp lights up.
4. Hold a **multimeter** and look at the cable to see voltage, current and power.
5. Add a **circuit breaker** and a **switch**, then open the **handbook** for the next steps.
## ⌨️ Controls
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| **N** | Toggle grid view |
| **J / K** | Move / resize the HUD |
| Right-click into the air (holding a mounted part) | Rotate the part by 90° before placing |
| Right-click | Use device / switch / open GUI |
| Copper ingot on a blown fuse | Replace the fuse |
All functions are also available as commands (`/npp …`).
## 📦 Requirements
- Minecraft **26.3**
- Fabric Loader **0.20.1** or newer
- **Fabric API** (required)
- Java **25**
Works on single player and dedicated servers (install on both client and server).
## ❓ FAQ
**Is this a realistic nuclear power plant simulator?**
No. Reactor and fusion mechanics are fictional and simplified game mechanics. The electrical side (voltage, current, protection) is inspired by real principles but balanced for fun.
**My lamp doesn't light up.**
Check that the generator is running, the cable is connected on both ends and no breaker or RCD has tripped. A multimeter shows where the voltage stops.
**Is it compatible with other tech mods?**
The mod uses its own grid. It runs alongside performance mods like Sodium, Lithium, Iris and Distant Horizons.
**Will my world survive updates?**
Save data is migrated between versions. As with every beta, keep a backup.
## 🐞 Status and feedback
This is a **beta**. The mod is built with automated unit tests and a dedicated-server start test, but not every combination has been played yet. Please report bugs and ideas in the comments or issue tracker – screenshots help a lot!
