Your base, run by villagers you pay.
Set up a workstation and a jobless villager (or a nitwit) takes the job. Workers sort your chests, shelve enchanted books, cook, smelt, farm, herd, fell trees, fish and haul, lead llama caravans to a far mine, build Create railways and dig whole mineshafts. They pass their goods to each other, and every one of them wants a daily wage.
👷 Features
- 🧰 Thirteen jobs, each with its own workstation: sorter, archivist, cook, smelter, field hand, herder, woodcutter, fisher, porter, caravan master, track layer, miner, and the allay courier.
- 🏠 Hiring like vanilla: a jobless villager takes a workstation like any job site, and nitwits work too. Only a workstation you set up hires a worker.
- 🔁 Teamwork: workers hand goods on. The sorter brings raw meat to the cook, and the cook brings it back cooked to be stored.
- 💰 Wages: every worker draws a daily wage from a Paymaster's Coffer and stops working when unpaid. Breakfast from the cook makes them work a quarter faster.
- 🧚 Allay couriers settle at a roost and fly goods between your workstations, day and night.
- 🦙 Llama caravans carry whole loads between your base and a far mine or farm.
- 🚂 Track layers build a Create railway line between two train stations, tunnels and all. Up to three work on one line, and two crews building from both ends meet in the middle.
- ⛏️ Miners dig a working mineshaft, laid out like a vanilla one, and bring out everything they dig. Up to three share one minehead.
- 🔊 Volume sliders for villagers and allays on the Music & Sounds screen.
🚀 Getting started
- Craft the Foreman's Handbook (a book and a paper). It explains every job.
- Craft a Paymaster's Coffer and put emeralds in it (a hopper can fill it).
- Bring jobless villagers or nitwits to your base.
- Place a workstation. A jobless villager nearby walks over and takes it, and you get a message with the new worker's name.
- Set up what the job needs around the workstation (chests, furnaces, a field, a pen) and put its supplies in.
- Talk to a worker with an empty hand: it tells you what it is doing and whether it was paid today.
📦 Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge
- Nothing else
- Recommended: Modonomicon for the Foreman's Handbook, Create for the railway builders
🤝 Works with
- Create: the Surveyor's Table and its track layers.
- Envelope: letters from the foreman when workers are in trouble.
- Open Parties and Claims: party members share workers and coffers.
- Jade: a worker's name and status at a glance.
- JEI: a page for every workstation, with its supplies and wage.
⚙️ Good to know
- Only you and your party can open your workstations.
- When no player is near, workers skip the walking and still get the work done, which spares the server.
- Server config
hiredhands-server.toml: every job's wage and range, meals, caravans, track layers and miners. - 🌍 In English and German.
Made for the Far Lands modpack. Works in any NeoForge 1.21.1 pack.
