Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
NekoHelper 1.4.1
This update focuses on improving combat animations, melee behavior, and Guard AI.
Combat & Animation Improvements
- Repositioned weapons closer to Neko's side and relaxed the previously over-bent elbow pose.
- Reworked wrist and arm movement for sword and axe attacks to reduce weapon clipping through Neko's face.
- Limited additional head rotation during attacks for more natural-looking animations.
- Fixed hair movement during combat. Hair roots now remain properly attached to the head while only the ends of the hair sway, preventing the hair from lifting away and exposing the scalp.
- Improved coordinated movement across the head, arms, body, legs, hair and skirt during attacks.
Sword Combat
- Swords now use a three-hit combo consisting of a wind-up, alternating slashes and a final downward strike.
- Full animation duration: approximately 1.8 seconds.
- Hits are checked at approximately 0.3s, 0.9s and 1.5s.
- Approximately 0.2 seconds between attack cycles.
- Successful attacks display sweeping visual effects.
- Neko continues moving towards the target during the combo, reducing missed follow-up attacks after knockback.
Axe Combat
- Axes now use a faster heavy attack with a short wind-up followed by a downward strike.
- The hit occurs at approximately 0.3 seconds.
- Full animation duration: approximately 0.9 seconds, with roughly 0.1 seconds between attack cycles.
- Successful hits produce particles and moderate additional knockback.
Attack timings are based on 20 TPS. Server lag may affect how fast the animations feel.
Melee Range
- Swords and axes now share an increased melee reach of 2.9 blocks.
- Reach is measured from Neko's eye position to the nearest point of the target's bounding box.
- Neko must still have line of sight to the target.
- Every individual hit checks the target again for validity, distance and visibility.
- If the target moves out of range or becomes blocked by a wall, the attack can miss normally.
- Sweep and critical particles are visual effects and do not deal area damage.
Guard AI
- Neko prioritizes enemies that recently attacked either Neko or the owner.
- Neko also prioritizes targets recently attacked by the owner.
- While Guard is enabled, Neko can automatically search for visible hostile mobs within 8 blocks of the owner.
- Players, tamed pets, villagers, teammates and Neko itself are excluded from automatic targeting.
- Neutral mobs are only attacked when they have recently been involved in combat and will not be deliberately provoked.
Owner-Directed Animal Attacks
Neko will not automatically hunt passive animals.
If the owner attacks an animal such as a cow or pig, Neko can remember and pursue that target for up to 30 seconds.
- The target must remain within 8 blocks of the owner.
- Neko can continue attacking until the target dies.
- Attacking another target updates the owner's command.
- Protecting the owner and self-defence still take priority.
- Untamed animals, including wild wolves, can only be pursued after being explicitly attacked by the owner.
Weapons & Durability
To enable combat:
- Tame Neko by right-clicking with a Cookie.
- Sneak + right-click Neko with an empty hand to open the management screen.
- Place a Sword or Axe in the Tool / Weapon slot. Shift-clicking from the player's inventory will also attempt to place equipment into an available equipment slot.
- Set Neko to Follow and make sure Guard: ON is enabled.
Weapon durability is consumed only after a successful hit using Minecraft's normal mob melee and weapon enchantment handling.
Removing, replacing or breaking the equipped weapon immediately stops the current attack.
Setting Neko to Stay or turning Guard OFF stops combat and clears the current owner-directed animal target.
Guard settings are saved with each Neko. New Nekos and older saved Nekos without this setting default to Guard enabled, although a Sword or Axe is still required for combat.
Tool Slot
The Pickaxe, Sword and Axe currently share one Tool / Weapon slot.
- Equip a Pickaxe for mining.
- Equip a Sword or Axe for combat.
- Automatic tool switching is not yet implemented.
- Sword and Axe use the same equipment slot and are not dual-wielded in this version.
Ore Selection, Bag storage and automatic item pickup remain available as before.
