NekoHelper is an anime-style companion mod for Minecraft Java 26.2 using Fabric.

Your Neko companion can follow you, carry items, collect drops, mine selected ores and protect you from nearby enemies while staying close to its owner.

Combat & Guard Mode

Give your Neko a sword or axe, enable Follow and keep Guard turned on.

Neko will protect its owner from nearby hostile mobs and prioritise enemies that recently attacked the owner or Neko.

Sword

• Three-hit combo
• Hits at approximately 0.3, 0.9 and 1.5 seconds
• Sweep visual effects
• Continues approaching the target during the combo

Axe

• Heavy downward strike
• Hits at approximately 0.3 seconds
• Moderate additional knockback
• Critical-style visual effects

Neko will not automatically hunt passive animals. If the owner attacks an animal first, Neko can assist by pursuing that target.

Players, tamed pets, villagers, teammates and other protected targets are excluded from automatic targeting.

Every attack checks range and line of sight. Targets that move out of range or behind a wall can cause an attack to miss.

Sweep and critical particles are visual effects and do not deal area damage.

Ore Selection

Sneak + right-click your Neko with an empty hand to open the management screen.

Select Ore Selection to choose from 11 ore groups:

Coal, Copper, Iron, Gold, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, Diamond, Emerald, Nether Gold, Nether Quartz and Ancient Debris.

You can select any combination, select all ores, or clear the selection to temporarily disable mining.

Mining

Give your Neko a suitable pickaxe, enable Follow and turn Mining on.

NekoHelper searches for nearby exposed ores and attempts to reach them before mining. It respects tool mining levels and uses Minecraft's normal block loot system, including Fortune and Silk Touch.

The companion avoids several dangerous situations, including ores next to water/lava, falling blocks and blocks currently supporting the player or Neko.

NekoHelper does not dig tunnels or destroy ordinary stone to reach hidden ores.

Tool / Weapon Slot

The pickaxe, sword and axe currently share the same Tool / Weapon slot.

Equip a pickaxe for mining or a sword/axe for combat. Automatic tool switching is not currently implemented.

NekoHelper is under active development. More companion behaviours and features are planned.

Model Credits

The NekoHelper character model is a modified version of the Creeper model from dokimobs.

Original model from dokimobs, used and modified under the MIT License.
