Mystical Terrain 1.0.6 — The Bosses Update
A reworked Ender Dragon, ten realm bosses with their own lairs and summoning rituals, twenty new mobs, and 77 pieces of boss gear. Every realm now has something at its heart worth hunting: a boss with 14 to 19 animated moves, a lair built around its altar, servants that roam its lands, and a set of weapons and armour forged from what it leaves behind.
New requirement: GeckoLib 5.4.5 or later (Fabric, 1.21.11) must now be installed alongside Fabric API and TerraBlender, on both the server and every client.
Highlights
- The Ender Dragon, reworked: a new detailed model, three new moves, 22 animations and a summoning ritual.
- 10 realm bosses, one for each fantasy realm, each with a unique ritual, a lair, three phases and 14 to 19 moves.
- 20 new mobs, two for each realm, several of them the bosses' own servants.
- 77 items of boss gear: 33 weapons with right-click abilities and 11 armour sets with full-set bonuses, all in 3D.
- Custom boss bars for the dragon and every realm boss.
- A new Mystical Terrain: Bosses creative tab.
The Ender Dragon
The dragon has a new face and a new fight.
- New model: black-violet scales, a crown of swept-back horns, a cracked chest plate over a glowing void core, torn membrane wings with glowing veins, a spined tail ending in a blade. Its neck and tail still bend along its flight path the way vanilla's do.
- A summoning ritual: the dragon no longer wakes when you first arrive. Four Void Pedestals now stand around the exit portal; set an Eye of the Void in each. The pedestals flare, lightning strikes, the sky darkens, and the dragon rises out of the void through the portal while its health bar fills. Filling the pedestals again after a kill summons it once more (the vanilla end crystal respawn still works too).
- Three new moves on top of its vanilla attacks:
- Void Breath Sweep: from its perch it rears back and rakes a wave of dragon's breath across the island.
- Crystal Recall: once crystals are down it flies to the portal and channels to rebuild two of them. Deal enough damage to break the channel and it staggers.
- Shatterdive: at a quarter health, and again near death, it climbs high and slams into the island, throwing everyone back.
- 350 health, up from 200.
- 22 animations: flapping, banking into turns, climbing, gliding, hovering, take-off and landing, perching, scanning for players, roaring, breathing fire, spitting fireballs, and every new move, plus a ten-second death in which its core swells and bursts.
- Drops 8 to 12 Essence of the Void Dragon.
Eye of the Void: an Eye of Ender surrounded by 4 crying obsidian and 4 amethyst shards.
The Ten Realm Bosses
Each boss lives in a lair in its own realm. Right-click a lair's altar with an empty hand to learn its ritual. Every boss has three phases, a custom health bar, and summons a boss-specific entrance and death.
| Boss | Realm | Lair | How to summon it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emberlord Pyraxis | Ember | a walled caldera with a lava moat | throw a Cinder Heart into the lava by the Forge Altar |
| Hrimthane, the Frost Wyrm | Frost | an ice bowl around a frozen lake | ring the four Frost Bells in order, I to IV |
| Queen Lirael of the Thorn Court | Fae | a moonstone palace of columns | lay three moonpetals on the Moonlit Dais at night |
| Grothmaw, the Primordial Tyrant | Primeval | a sunken crater nest under rib arches | set a Primal Egg in the Primal Nest and let it hatch |
| The Hollow Warden | Twilight | a cathedral of dusk | light the six Gloom Braziers on a new-moon night |
| Mother Bogrot | Mire | a sunken shrine in a black pool | drop a Drowned Idol into the water beside the Bog Heart |
| Sekhmar, the Sand Pharaoh | Dune | a stepped pyramid with a hall inside | place the four canopic jars on the Tomb Pedestal |
| Mycelord Vorr | Fungal | the inside of a colossal mushroom | plant a Spore Heart in the Spore Cradle and wait while it grows |
| The Archon of Runes | Arcane | a rune observatory | charge the five Rune Pillars with lapis lazuli |
| Astrael, the Fallen Star | Mystical | an open crater ringed with obelisks | pour a Starlight Vial on the Star Core at midnight |
The offerings (Cinder Heart, Primal Egg, Drowned Idol, canopic jars, Spore Heart, Starlight Vial) can be crafted, are found in lair chests, and some are dropped by the realm's mobs. The Frost Bells, Gloom Braziers and Rune Pillars are built into their lairs; moonpetals grow in the Fae realm. Once a boss is defeated, its altar resets for the next fight.

Boss Health Bars
The dragon and every realm boss have their own health bar: an ornamented frame in the boss's colours with its own gem and trimmings (horns for the dragon, flames for Pyraxis, icicles for Hrimthane and so on), a glassy fill with a travelling shine, a trail that shows the damage you've just dealt, notches at each phase, and a pulse when the boss is close to death.
Commands
For operators and map makers:
/mysticalterrain lair <boss>builds that boss's lair where you stand, in any world./mysticalterrain summon <boss>summons a boss in front of you with its full entrance.
Fixes
- Fixed a crash on start-up that could happen depending on the order in which mods loaded (TerraBlender reading the surface rules before Mystical Terrain's blocks were registered).
Upgrading
- Install GeckoLib 5.4.5+ first; the game will not start without it.
- Existing worlds are safe to update. A dragon already alive in your world keeps fighting with the new model and moves. If you have never entered the End, the dragon will now wait for the Void Pedestal ritual.
- Boss lairs and realm mobs appear in newly generated chunks of their realms.
- As before, Mystical Terrain must be installed on the server and on every client.
