A fun collection of storage based items centered around books, while maintaining the vanilla experience.
Requires Fabric API and MidnightLib. Roughly Enough Items (REI) is optionally supported — all recipes below, including the special ones, are viewable in it.

Current Books:
Book of Storage: Can hold 25 stacks(configurable) of a single block. Shift + Right Click to set the desired block and the book will automatically pick them up for you. Right click with book to place stored blocks. Can also blacklist blocks from the config.

Book of Holding (I–IV): A tiered, upgradeable storage book that holds many item types at once — not just blocks. Each tier holds more types at more stacks each (10/20/30/40 types at 1/2/4/8 stacks, all configurable). It auto-collects any item type it already holds when you pick items up, Right Click to withdraw a stack, and Shift + Right Click to deposit matching items straight from your inventory. Drop an empty one into a Library and it becomes a general storage cell. Upgrade in place — add 8 Gold for II, 8 Diamonds for III, or 4 Netherite for IV — and it keeps everything inside.
Book of Fluid: Can hold 10 buckets(configurable) of a fluid. Can also place stored fluid.

Book of Saturation: Can hold 1 stack(configurable) of food. Will consume stored food for you. Cool down between eating is 10 seconds(configurable)

Book of Magnetism: A filtered item magnet. You can set its filter by Shift + Right Clicking an item on the ground. You can clear its filters by Shift + Right Clicking a Coal Block.

Book of Farming: Right Click a crop to bind the book to it. Over time the crop grows and is harvested into the book, so it slowly fills with produce on its own — especially while sitting in a Library. Sneak + Right Click to unbind it.
Book of Husbandry: Right Click a passive mob to store it. The book then generates that mob’s drops over time (great inside a Library). Kill the stored mob type with the book in your offhand to shorten its cooldown. Cooldown and max kills are configurable.
Book of Hostility: Right Click a hostile mob to store it, then it generates that mob’s loot over time. Kill the stored mob with the book in your offhand to reduce the cooldown. Can also be charged with Entity Paper using the Piston Crafting mechanic (see below).
Empty Villager Book: Can hold 1 villager. Right Click a villager to capture it into the book.

Villager Book: A filled villager book. Right Click a block to place the villager down to trade with it, and the book remembers its trades. Sneak + Right Click a profession workstation to set the villager’s profession. Its current trades are shown right in the tooltip.
Baby Villager Book: Use 2 Villager books with an empty villager book in the middle to craft a Baby Villager Book. Grows up over 20minutes into an adult book, keeping the villager you captured.

Entity Paper: Right Click a mob to capture its type onto the paper. Surround an Egg with 8 matching Entity Papers to craft that mob’s Spawn Egg, or use it with the Piston Crafting mechanic to charge a Book of Hostility.
Current Blocks:
Library: Will hold 5 storage books. Can hopper contents on books out of this block.

Mystical Lectern: Craft a vanilla Lectern together with a Library to make one. It’s a remote storage terminal that shows the combined contents of every Library within range as one big, scrollable list with running totals — complete with a search box and a name / count sort toggle. It has a built-in 3×3 crafting grid that pulls ingredients straight from your Library network and auto-refills as you craft, so you can mass-produce right out of storage.
Mod Compatibility:
Roughly Enough Items (REI): Optional but recommended. Adds recipe entries for the Book of Holding upgrades and for every Entity Paper → Spawn Egg conversion, plus a dedicated Piston Crafting category. At a Mystical Lectern, REI’s Move Items (+) button fills the crafting grid using both your inventory and your stored Library contents.
Mystical Index 2.0 — What's New
Now on Minecraft 26.1.2 — fully migrated, running on both Fabric and NeoForge from one codebase, on Java 25.
🆕 The Scriptorium — a new automation block, a workbench for your books. Put effect books in its five slots and they work in the world: farming books grow and fill with produce, hostile and husbandry books generate loot, magnet books vacuum dropped items in (honoring their filters), storage and holding books absorb everything that arrives, and the XP book drinks up experience orbs. Full hopper support in and out.
🆕 Book of Experience — banks your XP levels losslessly. Deposit and withdraw levels through its screen, or flip on auto-collect and orbs flow straight into the book — even from inside a Book Sling.
🆕 Book of Transport — binds to a Library and ships a Scriptorium's contents to it automatically. Held in hand, sneak-use dumps everything matching from your pockets into your storage.
🆕 Book Sling — endgame netherite item holding five effect books that all keep working from a single inventory slot.
⚙️ Book screens everywhere — the Book of Farming is now a botany-pot planter (soil + seed + outputs, growth bar, the book visibly grows through three stages), Magnetism has a filter screen with All/Whitelist/Blacklist/Off modes, and Saturation has a food slot that feeds you with the stored food's own stats.
🏛️ Libraries are pure storage now — automation lives in the Scriptorium. The Mystical Lectern gained a capacity readout, ambient particles, and a range visualizer that draws glowing links to every connected Library.
Forge Port?
