v3.6 — Release
The network protocol moves to 3.6: the player detector's screen and the PvP deploy screen are new, so v3.6 needs the updated modpack and v3.5 clients are refused at login.
Interface
- Nations in the Tab List: Each name in the tab list now carries its nation's tag, coloured by its relation to you as the nameplates are: aqua for your nation, green for allies, grey for neutral and red for hostile. Players are grouped your nation first, then allies, neutral nations, hostile ones and players with no nation. It is added on your side after the server sends the list, so the TAB plugin's formatting and order are kept: its prefixes stay, and its order still applies within each group. It is off during a PvP match and can be turned off in the HUD settings.
- Nation Profiles in Diplomacy: Clicking a nation in the diplomacy page, or a row of the peace page, opens its profile: its leader, its size in citizens, chunks and outposts, its citizens by name, the nations it is allied and hostile with, and the sieges it is attacking or defending, along with its relation to yours and any protection it is under. Whether its citizens are online shows only for your own nation and your allies, so nobody can time a raid for when a rival is asleep. Pending alliance requests, roles, the treasury and the capital's location stay private.
- PvP Deploy Screen: Dying in a PvP match, or joining or starting one, now opens a deploy screen in the manner of a Battlefield spawn screen, after the usual killcam. The whole battle area shows as a hologram map, with grid squares, height contours and a scanning sweep. It marks your team's deploy points, your teammates and the way they face, the hill and who holds it, where you fell and where your killer stood. Click a point to deploy there; one with an enemy close by is marked dangerous and cannot be chosen, and if your point comes under threat before you go, you are sent to a safe one instead. Pick your loadout down the side and it applies the moment you deploy, not at the next death. Deploy with the button or Enter; after 15 seconds you are deployed anyway, so nobody hides in the screen. Enemy positions are never sent to it.
- PvP Small Things: Each gun keeps the fire mode you set, the hotbar slot in hand carries over, and the deploy point you chose stays chosen, from one life to the next; the kit used to come back on default fire modes every time. The hill's marker is drawn like a destination waypoint, scaled with distance so it reads from anywhere on the map, and fades out while you aim down sights. During a match, Plasmo Voice's icon and volume label are no longer drawn over enemies, where they showed through walls as a marker on them; teammates keep theirs. The PvP screens now fit any window: one too large for the GUI scale is shown at a smaller scale, like the other hub screens. While a PvP event is hosted, the hub's tab strip (N) has a PvP tab.
- Classic PvP Killcam: The killcam replay is gone. It moved the camera along the killer's last three seconds through the world as it is now, so the player who died was never in it, everyone else stood where they are now, the view could jump across the map at a respawn, and its overlay outlasted the respawn. In its place is the classic death camera: the view stays where you fell and turns smoothly to follow your killer as they move, closing in a little on a distant one, while they glow through walls. A card names the killer with their weapon, their health and the distance, and a bar runs down to the deploy screen. The server no longer records every player's movement every tick for it.
Gameplay
- Clearer Minecart Contraption Rules: The rules for Create's minecart contraptions are cut down to what they guard against, and their gaps closed. Any citizen may now place a cart assembler on their own nation's land, and anyone on land no nation holds; it used to take territory-management rights, and players with no nation could not use carts at all. A cart takes only blocks on its own land or unheld land, and unloads only there. A cart broken on another nation's land used to build its whole cargo into that land, past every rule; its cargo now drops there as items instead, as if broken by hand. Bearings can no longer go on a cart: what they carry was assembled after every check. Drills and other work heads stop when any part of the contraption is on foreign land, not only its centre. Carts assembled before these rules had no owner and could never be unloaded; they now unload once at any assembler. The storage limit counts Create's item vaults too, not only chests and barrels. Refusals show on the action bar of the players nearby instead of filling chat.
- No Striking from Behind a Truce: A nation whose capital fell is shielded by its rebuilding truce, but could still strike out. Now the first strike it makes on another nation's player or vehicle, anywhere, ends its rebuilding truce and its rebuilding protection together, announced to the whole server. Striking back is not a first strike: hitting a nation within 30 seconds of being hit by it is defence, and so is any hit on someone standing on the nation's own land. Allies, the PvP minigame and players with no nation are left out. Waiving the rebuilding protection on the recovery screen, to open Sieges again, now ends the truce on the nation's own land as well; before, a nation could attack while its land stayed shielded.
- Breaking Enemy Land Opens a Siege: Breaking an unreinforced block on another nation's land now opens a Siege on the core that holds it, as hitting its reinforcement does. A skirmish that wrecked an outpost's open buildings used to be no war at all, so nothing it won could be claimed. Being only a block, it opens the first phase; the rolling phase still takes damage to reinforcement or the core. Grass, flowers, crops, snow and other blocks that break at a touch do not count. The break passes the same gates as an attack on reinforcement and is refused when one says no: war consent with a nation you are not hostile to, a peace truce, a capital rebuilding, a failed-Siege lockout, your former nation, or your own nation's rebuilding protection. Artillery and explosions on unreinforced blocks still open none.
- PvP Battle Area: A PvP map can now have a battle area. Leaving it shows a warning with a five-second countdown, then hurts every second until you return. Maps without an area set by an admin are not enforced.
- Blaze Burner for PvP Points: The PvP point exchange now offers a lit Blaze Burner for 150 points, a way to one that does not go through the Nether gate. Points still come only from PvP tasks.
- Weapon Crate Removed: The weapon crate is no longer offered for PvP points, and
/pvp crateis gone. Its guns were too strong to hand out. - Nether Gate Shards Go to the Last Attacker: A cleared gate's Nether shards no longer drop on the generator for whoever picks them up. The player who lands the final blow on the last enemy gets them straight into their inventory, at their feet if it is full, and everyone nearby is told who took them. That player must be of the gate's nation or an ally; if an outsider steals the last kill, the shards go to the nearest citizen by the generator instead. Only with nobody to give them to do they drop on the generator as before. Server-side only.
- Player Detectors Belong to the Nation: A detector placed by a nation member now belongs to the nation, not to the player who placed it. Its upkeep comes from the treasury, every citizen online hears its intrusion alerts, and allies count as visitors and are not reported. A player who leaves keeps nothing: the detector stays with the nation and stops warning them. Placing, removing, renaming and restarting one take Bastion access or treasury rights; any citizen can read its screen. The per-owner whitelist and base managers are gone, since citizenship now decides who is family. A player with no nation still owns theirs alone, and it passes to the nation they join. A disbanded nation's detectors stop and can be claimed again. Existing detectors, and those a player brings in on joining a nation, pass to the nation automatically, but run on only until their paid time ends: the treasury pays for them only once someone with the rights restarts them, so a new recruit cannot put costs on it. The player who placed one may still remove it.
- Hidden Advancements: A handful of new hidden advancements, light-hearted ones announced in chat when someone earns them. What earns them is left for players to find. Server-side only.
- Reinforced Doors Lock: A reinforced door, trapdoor or fence gate that opens by hand in a nation's land now opens only for players who may build there: members with Bastion access and allies given build permission. Territory closure already counted a reinforced door as wall even when open; now it holds like one. The lock goes with the reinforcement, so a broken or switched-off reinforcement, or one disabled by a siege, lets anyone through again. Redstone still opens it: a button left outside works for anyone. Server-side only.
Operator Tools
- PvP Map Areas and Deploy Points:
/pvp admin map wand <id>hands out an area wand: left-click a block for one corner of the map's battle area and right-click for the other, or usesetbounds1/setbounds2. The area is an area on the map, at any height, so corners clicked on the ground do not leave the spawns above them outside it. Both set, the map's tactical map is scanned a few thousand columns a tick, from the top of the area down, so a roof above it is left out;/pvp admin map scan <id>scans again after the arena changes./pvp admin map namepoint <id> <name>names the deploy point you stand on, as the deploy screen shows it. A change that would leave a deploy point or the hill outside the area is refused, andmap listandmap infosay what is still missing or wrong instead of only "not set up". Maps made before this keep working: their area is derived from their spawns and hill, marked for checking, and scanned at their first match.
