Morrowless

A horror adventure mod where nightfall unleashes relentless monsters, deadly encounters, and secrets beyond the Veil.

Morrowless

Inspired by the TV series FROM.
Morrowless is a dark horror-adventure mod built to make Minecraft survival feel dangerous, unfamiliar, and worth exploring again.

When night falls, the world becomes less predictable. New creatures begin to roam, each with its own behavior and ways of hunting you. Strange structures can be discovered far from safety, forgotten records hint at events that were never meant to be understood, and some encounters are far more dangerous than they first appear.

Morrowless is designed around tension, exploration, atmosphere, and discovery rather than simply filling the world with stronger mobs.

Morrowless expands Minecraft Survival rather than replacing it.

You can still build, mine, explore, visit villages, and progress through the game normally — but the world is no longer quite as safe or predictable as you remember.

Most of Morrowless is designed to be discovered naturally during a normal Survival playthrough. Creatures roam the world, unfamiliar locations can appear far from home, forgotten records may be uncovered while exploring, and some encounters demand considerably more than simply swinging a sword.

The mod is built around the idea that you should not immediately understand everything you find. Some places are dangerous. Some are useful. Others may seem meaningless until much later.

Not every strange place is hostile. Not every discovery explains itself.

Learning what the world has become is part of the experience.

Morrowless adds new threats, places, stories, and rewards to discover throughout a normal Survival world.

  • Original hostile creatures with unique appearances, behaviors, attacks, animations, and sound design.
  • Major boss encounters with distinct mechanics, phases, visual effects, arenas, and rewards.
  • New structures and locations scattered across the world, from abandoned underground sites to settlements and stranger landmarks.
  • Exploration-driven lore told through recovered documents, journals, environmental clues, and discoveries made during your travels.
  • A persistent Journal that lets you collect and revisit the lore you uncover.
  • New weapons, materials, items, and rewards tied to exploration and dangerous encounters.
  • Custom world generation designed to give you reasons to leave familiar territory behind.
  • Dark ambient audio and atmosphere that make nights, caves, forests, and isolated places feel far less comfortable.
  • Systems built to blend naturally with vanilla villages, loot, mobs, exploration, and Survival progression.

Some of these things will find you before you find them.

The creatures of Morrowless are designed to feel different from ordinary Minecraft enemies.

Each has its own appearance, behavior, attacks, animations, sounds, and way of putting pressure on the player. Some pursue relentlessly, some control space, while others behave in ways that may not be immediately obvious.

Morrowless deliberately avoids explaining every creature in detail. Learning how something hunts, attacks, or reacts to the world is intended to happen naturally through encounters.

Learning what is hunting you is part of surviving it.

Morrowless adds several new locations and systems designed to reward players who explore beyond familiar territory.

Structures & landmarks

  • Catacombs — Large underground ruins containing hostile encounters, loot, and fragments of the world's history. They are not particularly welcoming places to explore unprepared.

  • Lake Settlements — Isolated settlements built around remote lakes, containing supplies, records, and encounters tied to their surroundings.

  • Talisman Huts — Small, uncommon shelters connected to one of Morrowless' most useful survival mechanics. They are worth investigating whenever you find one.

  • Veilbloom Trees — Rare and unmistakable landmarks that seem considerably more important than ordinary trees. What they actually do is something best discovered in-game.

You may also find Morrowless lore and items inside vanilla locations, meaning villages and other familiar structures can occasionally contain evidence that something has changed in the world.

Talismans

One of the most useful discoveries in Morrowless is the Talisman.

Talismans can be obtained through exploration and certain locations throughout the world or crafted. Once placed, they can create a protected space against many of the creatures roaming outside.

They are not intended to make Survival completely safe, however. Creatures may still remain nearby, react to your presence, or make it very clear that they know where you are.

Finding shelter and being safe are not always the same thing.

Lore & Journal

Throughout exploration you can recover journals, reports, records, warnings, and other documents left behind by those who encountered the world before you.

Documents can be read normally, or preserved inside your persistent Journal, gradually creating an archive of everything you have discovered.

Reading the lore is completely optional, but players who pay attention may begin to understand how Morrowless' creatures, locations, and events are connected.

About the development

Morrowless is an independently created project developed with the assistance of ChatGPT.

I began the project without a programming background and used AI-assisted development to help translate my ideas, designs, mechanics, and gameplay goals into a working Minecraft mod.

The direction of the project, feature design, balancing, visual decisions, testing, iteration, and final gameplay choices have been shaped through extensive hands-on development and in-game testing.

Morrowless is an ongoing project, and I hope to continue expanding and improving it based on both my own ideas and feedback from players.

Current support

Minecraft: 1.21.1
Mod Loader: NeoForge
Environment: Singleplayer / Survival

Morrowless is still actively being developed. Bug reports, feedback, and suggestions are welcome through the CurseForge comments.
