MFCL 0.2.0 — Compatibility & Developer Tools Update
This update focuses on improving runtime stability, cross-version compatibility, developer tools, and the separation between the MFCL core and legacy mod adapters.
New Features
Generic Legacy Scanner Framework: Introduced LegacyHeldScanners, allowing legacy mod adapters to handle held-item scanning without hardcoding mod-specific behavior into the core.
Network Registration Validation: Added checks for duplicate packet IDs, conflicting message types, and invalid network registrations to prevent runtime networking issues.
Runtime Diagnostics: Added tools for identifying missing cross-version mappings, legacy mod exceptions, and potentially undelivered legacy events.
Dedicated Server Testing: Added headless dedicated-server tests covering Thaumcraft 4 initialization, block entities, inventories, NBT persistence, and world restarts.
Improved Runtime Setup: The Minecraft 1.7.10 runtime preparation script no longer requires NotEnoughItems (NEI) as a bootstrap dependency.
Mod Logo: Added the official MFCL logo.
Improvements
Refactored Thaumcraft 4 scanning logic into a dedicated compatibility adapter.
Improved server-side scan verification and legacy player-data synchronization.
Improved error reporting and identification of incompatible legacy content.
Updated runtime installation instructions and developer documentation.
Added regression tests for network registrations and diagnostic functionality.
Updated the project version to 0.2.0.
Developer Commands
New diagnostic commands are available:
/mfclapi mappings — Display missing cross-version mappings.
/mfclapi errors — Display recorded legacy runtime errors.
/mfclapi events — Inspect legacy event handlers not observed receiving events during the current session.
/mfclapi dump — Export a detailed diagnostic report.
Diagnostic reports are saved to logs/mfcl/diagnostics-1.7.10.json.
Compatibility Notes
MFCL remains experimental. Compatibility is not guaranteed for every Minecraft Forge 1.7.10 mod.
Dedicated-server startup and persistence have been tested with Thaumcraft 4, but client connections, reconnects, and multiplayer gameplay on dedicated servers are not yet fully validated.
Some legacy gameplay systems, entities, world-generation features, and network protocols remain incomplete.
Please back up your worlds before updating or testing MFCL.
