🧶 Mobweave Core
The threads behind the creatures. A library for mob mods.
✨ Overview
🎯 What it provides
🐦 Base creature classes
Ready-made bases for birds, flying bugs, flying creatures, flying mobs, jumpers and swimming creatures, with the movement, navigation and synced data they need.
🧠 Fourteen reusable AI goals
Follow and defend an owner, steal from a player, grab items from the floor, fly around, sense the nearest player, back off from an entity, swim underwater, be tempted by an item and more.
🐾 Taming and variants
A taming system with owner, follow state and tame or heal items, and a variant system with texture overlays. Both are stored as data attachments and kept in sync between server and client.
🌍 Custom creature types
Four extra creature categories — monster, passive, water and lava — each with its own spawn cap, plus a placement type for creatures that live in lava.
📍 A spawn system you can configure
A registry that other mods can add spawn entries to, with checks for biome, dimension, light, height and fluids, and a server-side spawner that respects per-category limits. Extra entries can also be added from the config file.
🎨 Utilities
Colour, image, entity and NBT helpers, base item and food classes, and particles for coloured breaking and large flames.
⚙️ Configuration
One common config file: spawn tick delay, per-category spawn limits, the dimension whitelist, and a list of extra spawn entries in the form name#entityid.
📜 Requirements

📚 For players
- Install Mobweave Core only if a mod you use lists it as a dependency.
- Put it in the
modsfolder next to that mod. - There is nothing to craft, find or configure.
🔄 Original work and what is different
Mobweave Core is a derivative work (an adaptation) of Multi Mob Library (Multi Mob Core 1.0.4, Minecraft 1.12.2) by Daveyx0. The original is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0, which allows adaptations with credit, and this port uses the same license. All credit for the original design goes to Daveyx0.
- Different from the original: rewritten for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge (the original targets 1.12.2 and Forge); registries, entity attributes, goals, config and networking adapted to current APIs; taming and variants stored as data attachments instead of the old capabilities; config moved to NeoForge's config system.
- Not ported: the Dynamic Trees and Just Enough Resources integrations, the Forge config GUI and the old capability plumbing.
- Own mod id (
mobweave_core), so it does not conflict with the original. - Unofficial: not affiliated with or endorsed by the original author.
💭 Notes
- License: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 (CC BY-NC 3.0), the same as the original. Non-commercial use only. Credit to Daveyx0 as the original author.
- It uses its own id,
mobweave_core, so it does not conflict with other releases of the original library. - Not ported: the original integrations with Dynamic Trees and Just Enough Resources (they have no equivalent in 1.21), the Forge config GUI, and the old capability plumbing.
- Beta: the library loads and the server starts cleanly, but its behaviour (AI, taming, spawning) has not been exercised with real creatures yet. Please report anything odd.
