Description

The engine under the Minimalistics mods. Minimalistics Core is a library: it adds no blocks or items of its own. It gives tech mods one shared way to move energy, fluids, items and heat, with conduits that hold nothing, exact flow and diagnostics that tell players the truth, on Forge, NeoForge and Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1.

In Minimalistics, the first mod built on the Core: the analyzer's report on a cable.

Energy is measured in MU. Generators, storages and machines join through cables, and each cable carries its rated MU per tick while holding nothing itself. Every tick a network finds the best flow through its cables: generators serve machines by priority (high, normal, low), what is left charges storages, storages cover what generation cannot, and storage never feeds storage. When supply or a cable falls short, every machine gets the same fraction of what it asked for, wherever it sits on the line.

Fluid networks work the same way, in millibuckets on every loader. Pipes have a temperature limit and only gas-tight pipes carry gases: lava in a pipe that is not hot enough, or steam in a plain pipe, simply does not move. Each pipe side can insert, extract or both, with a priority and a filter.

Item pipes take from their extracting sides every few ticks and hand the stacks out in turn, by priority, with whitelist or blacklist filters that can also match enchantments and other item data.

Heat is temperature-based: blocks that hold heat exchange it through contact, in proportion to their difference and never past it, and slowly lose some to the air. A lava generator can warm a steam boiler beside it.

Every network keeps an honest snapshot: production, consumption, deficit, charging and discharging, stored energy, the highest cable load and the weakest cable. Machines name their status in a few words, like Output full or No energy. In chat, /mcore info and /mcore diagnose <x y z> show the same.

For mod authors there is a kit for machines: a machine block, its block entity and a layout of slots, tanks and gauges, and the Core brings the rest: side configuration, redstone control, speed and efficiency upgrades, progress paid in energy that slows down instead of resetting, auto output, saving, and menus that stay in sync without custom packets. Recipe machines get their recipe type from one line, with counted ingredients, a fluid and chances; generators get a firebox for any furnace fuel; pipes get per-side settings with their own screen. Registration works the same on every loader. The standard machine screen gives every mod built on the Core the same clean look: a graphite panel in the machine's accent colour, the energy bar, fluid gauges and a status line, with tabs for the details (every number, down to the time and energy of one operation), the sides (the machine unfolded with its real faces) and the control settings. Every text is fitted to its room, so nothing overlaps, and a number shown short gives its exact value when you point at it.

One API on all three loaders. MU is a capability on NeoForge and Forge and a block lookup on Fabric; fluids and items use each loader's own handlers (with transactions on Fabric), so pipes connect to tanks and chests of other mods. Forge Energy and Team Reborn Energy are bridged at a configurable rate (1 MU = 1 FE by default).

Add the jar of your loader as a dependency (Maven group io.github.pozzitiv4ik.minimalistics, for example minimalistics_core-neoforge-1.21.1) and code against io.github.pozzitiv4ik.minimalistics.api. Declare Minimalistics Core as a required dependency of your mod instead of bundling it, so players install it once. The API follows semantic versioning: every 1.x release keeps it compatible.

- Minecraft 1.21.1: NeoForge 21.1.200 or newer, Forge 52.1 or newer, or Fabric Loader 0.16.10 with Fabric API.
- Install it on the client and the server, next to the mods that need it. On its own it does nothing visible.
- In English and Russian.
