Villager Identity Mod - Release Changelog
This release focuses on performance, reliability, dialogue polish and stronger compatibility while preserving every existing identity feature.
Dialogue Improvements
- Expanded ambient, profession, family, trust, and community dialogue.
- Fixed returning-player greetings so they remain queued until a villager can actually speak.
- Preserved the established presentation:
- Ambient chatter appears in the actionbar.
- Greetings, relationship lines, danger warnings and gifts appear in chat.
- Reduced repeated player-search allocations during dialogue checks.
Performance Improvements
- Added adaptive crowd safety for unusually dense villages.
- Culture routines and social movement now automatically calm down around crowded meeting points.
- Trust, gifts, homes, families and persistent memory remain fully active during crowd protection.
- Added configurable
safe,balancedandlivelyperformance presets. - Added per-world limits for expensive identity checks and movement requests.
- Identity now skips unnecessary crowd calculations outside active social periods.
- Optional behavior remains expressive without overwhelming server ticks.
Village Memory
- Improved village-key caching around bells, homes and fallback regions.
- Meeting-point changes now refresh village identity immediately.
- Villagers without an established bell refresh their fallback village information regularly.
- Established bell-based village identities remain stable and efficiently cached.
- Custom villager type IDs are now used consistently when resolving village identity.
Configuration
- Improved
config/villageridentitymod.txtmigration between versions. - Fixed global settings being incorrectly placed inside villager-type profile sections.
- Previously misplaced generated settings are repaired automatically.
- Existing user-created profile values remain preserved.
- Added or finalized configuration for:
- Gift cooldown and gift chance
- Culture sampling
- Performance presets
- Crowd detection radius and threshold
- Heavy-check and movement-request limits
- Missing or invalid settings continue to use safe defaults.
Compatibility
- VillagerHomeLandsMod was a required dependency, now it is an optional one and remains responsible for villager types, homes and village generation. It will become a required dependency once it is stable enough.
- Added support for the current VillagerHomeLands Mod public API.
- Custom and expanded villager types now resolve to their intended Identity profiles more reliably.
- Compatibility remains prepared for richer homeland and culture information in future VillagerHomeLands Mod versions.
- Villager AI remains optional and continues to own advanced movement and pathfinding behavior.
- Defensive and combat behavior remains outside Villager Identity.
Fixes
- Fixed return dialogue being lost during the re-entry delay.
- Fixed stale fallback village keys lasting too long after meeting-point changes.
- Fixed repeated config migration entries.
- Fixed generated global settings being interpreted as type-specific settings.
- Reduced unnecessary work performed during inactive villager schedule periods.
- Improved optional-mod detection efficiency.
- Improved release documentation and dependency information.
Verification
- Clean Fabric 1.21.4 build completed successfully.
- All bundled profile, dialogue, and gift resources validated successfully.
- Release jar contains no duplicate entries.
- No existing trust, dialogue, gift, home, family, culture or alarm functionality was removed.
