Minecraft, but everything you touch turns to gold.
Midas Curse is a challenge mod for streams, videos and friend groups. Curse yourself (or your friends) and watch the world turn to gold around you... including your dinner.
Features
- Golden Footsteps: every block you walk on turns into a gold block. Leave a shining trail across the world.
- Golden Hunger: bread, steak, apples, even cake... they all turn to gold the moment you try to eat them. Only golden food (golden carrots, golden apples) can keep you alive.
- Golden Statues: mobs you kill become gold statues and drop gold nuggets instead of their loot.
- Multiplayer modes: let the curse spread like a plague, or play tag: hit someone to pass the curse on.
- Fully configurable: toggle each feature, set chances, the spread mode and the tag cooldown.
- Server-side: install it on the server only. Players can join with a normal client.
Commands (operators)
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
/midas curse <players> |
Curse players |
/midas lift <players> |
Lift the curse |
/midas status |
Show who is cursed and the spread mode |
The curse is stored as the player tag midascurse.cursed, so it survives death and relogging and works with selectors like @a[tag=midascurse.cursed].
Config
config/midascurse-local.toml: footsteps (on/off, chance, full blocks only), hunger, statues, golden loot, spread mode (NONE / SPREAD / TAG), tag cooldown, curse on first join, effects.
Data pack tags: midascurse:immune (blocks that never turn to gold) and midascurse:golden_food (food you can still eat).
Good to know
- Chests, furnaces, beds and other block entities, fluids, unbreakable blocks, obsidian (portals keep working) and farmland never turn to gold.
- Mobs keep the gear they picked up. Only their normal loot turns to gold.
- The curse only spreads where PvP is allowed.
