MezzConfig GUI Reforged

Adds Forge Support For Certain Versions Of MezzConfig GUI

This is an unofficial Forge port of MezzConfig GUI. MezzConfig GUI is made by mezz. The official MezzConfig GUI for Minecraft 1.21.11 is released for NeoForge and Fabric only. This project adds a build for Minecraft Forge. It is not made or supported by mezz, so please report problems with this build here, not on MezzConfig GUI's issue tracker.

What MezzConfig GUI does

MezzConfig GUI is a client-side settings screen for mods whose settings use MezzConfig, such as Just Enough Items (JEI). This port is MezzConfig GUI 0.5.10 for Minecraft 1.21.11. It was made so that the unofficial JEI port for Forge 1.21.11 has a settings screen.

  • Settings screens with editors for common value types, a search box to find settings by name, and a tab for each mod.
  • Opening a mod's settings: use Config in the mods list. For JEI, the wrench button below its item list also works.
  • Its own options (Config next to MezzConfig GUI in the mods list): window or full-screen layout, window size, how values are shown, editing and navigation.
  • For pack makers: choose the order of the mod tabs and hide mods from them, and ship default layout settings. See the official project's pack guide.
  • Server settings: with MezzConfig GUI on the server as well, operators can edit server settings registered through MezzConfig from their client. The server checks the operator permission and validates the values.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.11 with Forge 61.2.0 or newer (tested with 61.2.1).
  • MezzConfig 0.6.3 or newer for Forge. MezzConfig has no official Forge build for 1.21.11 either. The unofficial JEI Forge port includes it, so with that JEI port nothing else is needed. Without it, install the Forge build of MezzConfig provided with this port.
  • Client side. On a server it is optional; it is only needed there for editing server settings from a client.

Differences from the official builds

  • On NeoForge, MezzConfig GUI also makes settings screens for mods that use NeoForge's own config system. This Forge build does not do that for Forge's config system, the same as the official Forge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. Only mods that use MezzConfig, or that add a MezzConfig GUI plugin, get a screen.
  • For the same reason, the option "Enable Native Config Discovery" has no effect on Forge.

Tested

This build was tested with real game installs, not only in a development environment: a Forge 61.2.1 client and dedicated server with the unofficial JEI Forge port. JEI's settings screen opened from the wrench button and from the mods list, both on the server and in singleplayer, and MezzConfig GUI's own options screen opened. The logs were clean. Editing server settings from a client, and mods other than JEI, have not been tested.
