MCA: Mob Compat 0.3.0 (NeoForge 1.21.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
0.3.0 - November 2nd, 2026
Guards, recruits and workers can now be MCA characters while keeping their original mod’s jobs, combat and equipment. This release also includes the previously listed 0.2.2 changes, which were never released separately.
Clients and servers must update together. Older 0.2 clients cannot connect.
MCA characters and interactions
- Expanded support for Guard Villagers, Villager Recruits and Villager Workers. Guards, recruits, companions, nobles and workers retain a persistent MCA identity without losing their ownership, equipment, progression or assignments.
- MCA appearances include faces, hair, clothing, dyes, custom skins and genetic proportions, while preserving each NPC’s movement, equipment and riding animations. Hitboxes, reach and stats remain unchanged. Servers can configure appearances per mod, and players can choose the original models in client settings.
- MCA’s villager editor now works on supported NPCs, with configurable permissions and protection against conflicting edits.
- Right-click recruits and workers for MCA interactions; crouch-right-click for their original menus. Owners can use MCA’s Follow, Stay and Move options to issue the corresponding orders. For workers, Move sends them back to work.
- Promotions preserve the same MCA person, and portraits in MCA: Conversations and MCA: Quests show that character.
Recruitment and civilian life
- Recruiting an MCA villager as a guard now creates a real Guard Villagers guard, preserving their MCA identity and relationships. The previous MCA profession-based behavior remains available through
guardRecruitmentMode. - Added
/mcamobcompat character enlist <role>to enlist characters through the relevant mod’s hiring rules and costs. - Release enlisted characters back into civilian life with
/mcamobcompat character release. They return where the NPC stood, with their belongings, previous job and previous MCA order restored. - Failed enlistments refund their payment, and interrupted enlistments, promotions and releases have recovery handling across restarts.
- Recruits’ automatic conversions no longer replace MCA villagers and lose their identity. Noble hiring preserves the same person or refuses the hire without taking payment. Vanilla villager conversion is unchanged.
Fixes and tools
- Fixed old MCA orders being reapplied after a restart and overriding newer orders given through Recruits’ or Workers’ own menus.
- Added player commands for character information and controls, plus operator commands for compatibility status, inspection and repair.
- Missing compatibility hooks now disable the affected feature with an explanation.
- Existing character saves upgrade automatically, preserving identities, names, relationships and associations.
Compatibility
Villager Recruits 1.15.2 and Villager Workers 2.0.3 are the audited builds for Forge 1.20.1.
Their integrations remain unavailable on NeoForge 1.21.1, as neither mod currently provides a build for that version. Configuration options are present on both loaders, and unavailable integrations are clearly reported.
