What's new

MALAHIT Monitors 2.7: changes compared to 1.0.1

New

Transparent Malahit Monitor

  • New block malachite_monitors:transparent_monitor. It has everything the regular monitor has: screens up to 8 x 6 blocks, the malachite_monitor peripheral, the pixel layer, touch events and Vista cassettes.
  • The screen has no black background: where nothing is drawn, the world behind it shows through.
  • The block is invisible and has no model in the world. Only the screen contents (the camera feed, pixels, text and vector shapes) are drawn. The glass panel is shown only while a player holds a transparent monitor in either hand, as the barrier block is shown.
  • Transparent monitors join only with transparent monitors.
  • Recipe: 3 glass panes over iron nugget, redstone, iron nugget gives 3 transparent monitors.

Vector layer

  • A new layer above the pixels and the text, for crosshairs and sight reticles.
  • Shapes: lines, polylines, filled polygons, rectangles, circles, arcs and text, at fractional pixel coordinates.
  • Any 0xRRGGBB colour with transparency, fractional line widths, and a coordinate transform (origin, scale, rotation).
  • Shapes are smoothed and stay visible at a distance.
  • Shapes can be put in groups (0-255) that can be moved, hidden or cleared without resending the drawing.
  • New functions: vecClear, vecColor, vecWidth, vecGroup, vecTransform, vecLine, vecLines, vecPolyline, vecPolygon, vecRect, vecCircle, vecArc, vecText, vecGroupOffset, vecGroupVisible, vecCount.
  • The screen now has four layers, bottom to top: the camera picture, the pixels, the text, the vector layer.

Example program

Changes

  • The mod is now named MALAHIT Monitors.
  • The peripheral type is now malahit_monitor (was malachite_monitor): programs must use peripheral.find("malahit_monitor") or peripheral.wrap with the new name.
  • The license file is now LICENSE.txt and is included in the jar under that name; the copyright line is "Graide (MALAHIT)".

Compatibility and notes

  • The network protocol version is now 2. Client and server need the same version of the mod.
  • Breaking change: the mod id, the block ids and the peripheral type changed (malachite_monitors to malahit_monitors, malachite_monitor to malahit_monitor). Existing worlds lose placed monitors, and programs need the new peripheral name: peripheral.find("malahit_monitor").
  • CC:Tweaked and Vista remain optional.
  • Text and the vector layer are not saved with the world; the computer redraws them after a restart.
