Majestic Structures

Majestic Structures rebuilds the Overworld's vanilla structures in the Majestic style, starting with the mineshafts: the Order's old workings, dug by the creatures of the Majestic Bestiary. Every replacement can be switched off from the config.

What's new

v0.0.0-beta.2 - The mineshaft of the Order

Added

  • The mineshaft of the Order. The eight jigsaw pieces, imported: a first chamber with a cave mouth above it, a two-level hall, straight and turning corridors, a two-storey crossing, a stair run, a cobwebbed side passage and a tool chamber at the end. 5578 blocks of worked stone, five chests, a chest minecart on rails, four spawners, twenty-one connectors.
  • It replaces the vanilla mineshaft. replaceVanillaMineshafts now ships true, so the tunnels you already know are switched off and the Order's old workings take their place. /majestic_structures takeover off gives you the vanilla ones back on the next /reload or restart.
  • Six of the Order's creatures live down there — undead, goblins, dire wolves, satyrs, and a gnome or a centaur in the deeper halls. Spawners ignore light, so they are there day and night, which is the point.
  • Five loot tables, from the props of a mine floor up to the Order's own keystone in the cobwebbed side passage.
  • Majestic Core 0.0.0-beta.2 as a required dependency. The twenty-five blocks this is built out of live there.

Notes

  • The chain length is measured, not guessed. Across twenty seeds, a mineshaft comes out between 7 and 13 pieces, averaging 8.7, with the tool chamber at the end reached nineteen times out of twenty and no overlaps.
  • The distance cap does the work, not the weight of the final room. Tightening it shortens the chain and makes the end rarer at the same time, which is the opposite of what you want.

Known issues

  • Nothing here has been seen in-game. That is the whole of what is wrong with it.
  • A mineshaft under solid rock can be unreachable. The pieces sit 45 blocks down and bury does not open caves, so one that lands inside granite generates and you never find it. It cannot be fixed in code — a structure has no way to know there is rock in the way at the point where its position is chosen. So the depth is a setting: mineshaft.depthOffset in the config, or /majestic_structures depth -25 and a /reload. Shallower means closer to caves and easier to reach.
  • Our mineshafts can still overlap other structures, because Minecraft gives no way to keep two apart. What is enforced is that no chest of ours can be reached without going through our own structure.
Beta. The takeover is on by default, which is the first time this mod changes your world. If you want the vanilla mineshafts back, /majestic_structures takeover off then /reload — and tell us what broke if anything did.
