🐒 Majestic Structures
The mineshaft you already know, rebuilt by the Order of Watchers. Same hole in the ground, different world underneath.
✨ Overview
|
Majestic Structures rebuilds the structures that ship with Minecraft. It starts where it hurts most: the mineshaft. You already know the vanilla one — three-block tunnels of oak planks and fences, cobwebs that go on forever, a chest minecart on rails, and a cave spider spawner you have learned to walk past. That mineshaft is still being generated, in every single chunk, and it is the most common structure in the game. This mod takes it over. Your mineshaft is now somewhere the Order of Watchers opened, worked and walked away from: rune-cut masonry holding up the corridors, the Order's own lanterns where the crews used to work, and the creatures of the Majestic Bestiary living in the dark instead of vanilla spiders. Nothing in your game files is modified. If you decide you preferred the old tunnels, one command brings them back. |

🔎 How One Works
- You find it the way you always have. Down a shaft, off a ravine wall, under a lava lake. A mineshaft still is a mineshaft — the takeover changes what is down there, not how you get to it.
- The first chamber tells you where you are. Worked stone where somebody had to make it work, raw rock everywhere else. The Order's marks on the walls point the way back.
- It goes on for a while. Corridors, two-level crossings, stair runs, a collapsed hall full of rubble. Eight pieces assemble into a mine, so no two are the same shape.
- Somebody was living here. Goblins, satyrs and the undead in the corridors; a gnome spawner behind the cobwebs; an Arcane Mage or a Centaur in the deep chambers.
- There is a reason to keep going. Ore the vanilla mine never had, and the Order's own stone in the side chambers.
🏠 It Is Not a Dungeon
The easiest way to get this wrong would be to fill the tunnels with monsters and call it a dungeon. That is not what this is.
- It is a workplace that was left. The Order had a plan here, carried it out, and stopped. You find the tools, the crates and the lamps, not a cult.
- The Order's stone is used, not sprayed. Sills and jambs and lintels, where a structure needs them. Rune blocks to mark the way. Floors polished because they get walked on. Every rubble pile is a wall that gave up.
- The underground is broken into, not built. Seventy per cent of what you see is rock. Worked stone appears where somebody had a reason to cut it.
- It is lit. The Order did not work in the dark. You can read a corridor before the things in it see you.
Built out of Majestic Core's twenty-five blocks: the plain stone, its cracked and mossy and drowned variants, slabs, stairs, walls, beams, railings and the two rune lanterns.
🔄 Take It Back
The takeover writes a small datapack into the world you are playing and removes it again on request, so it is genuinely reversible — not a one-way door.
/majestic_structures status # what is this world doing right now
/majestic_structures takeover off # give me my vanilla mineshafts back
/reload # (or just restart the server)
It also has a config, majestic_structures-common.toml, where you decide how common
the mineshafts are. Vanilla attempts one in every chunk, which is a lot; ours are
rarer, and the numbers are yours to set. replaceVanillaMineshafts ships false
until the structures are finished, so nothing changes in your world until you ask for it.
⚠ An Honest Note About Overlaps
The vanilla mineshaft is generated in every chunk, which means our replacements can end up near — or inside — something else you have: a stronghold, an ancient city, a dungeon, a village, or a tower from Arcane Towers. Minecraft has no way for two structures to politely avoid each other, and pretending otherwise would be a lie.
So we do the next best thing: every chest in our mineshafts is walled off from the outside world, and no chest can be reached by a route that does not go through our own structure. If you dig into a stronghold and find our loot inside it, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.
📋 Requirements
| Minecraft | 1.21.1 |
| NeoForge | 21.1.249+ |
| Java | 21 |
| Side | Client and Server (required on both) |
| Requires | Majestic Bestiary, Expedition Core, GeckoLib |
Majestic Structures does not require Majestic — it works on its own with its libraries, and fits right in alongside it.
📊 What's Next
The badlands mineshaft, cut in daylight out of the mesa instead of under it. Then the abandoned branch, sealed and forgotten. Then the same treatment for the next vanilla structure you keep running into.
Beta, and not much to see yet. The takeover, the config and the commands are in and working. The eight pieces the mineshaft is assembled from are still in the workshop, so this release adds nothing to your world until they land. Read the changelog before installing.
