What's new

The first release: your chest just grew legs. Wake any chest with a key and it follows you, carries your loot, bites your enemies and keeps your things when you die.

Features

  • Lootlings: turn a Lootling Key in a chest and it wakes up as your companion, with everything that was inside. It follows you (even through portals), stays, or wanders around a spot.
  • One key, one Lootling: the key stays bound to the Lootling it woke. Each Lootling gets a lock of its own colour and its key's gem glows in the same colour; pick another one in its screen or with a dye. The key shows where its Lootling is and calls it to you; sneak-use it on your Lootling to bind another key (a lost key goes blank). A Lootling from a spawn egg wakes for a blank key, like a chest.
  • A name of its own: name your Lootling in its screen (the name row under its picture); its name floats above it only when you open the eye next to it.
  • Its own screen: 3 to 6 rows of storage, a live preview of your Lootling, its health, buttons for follow / stay / wander, collecting items, guarding you, sorting, depositing your inventory (shift-click: only what it already holds) and taking everything; your Lootling hops or gulps in the preview.
  • Upgrades: iron, golden and diamond bands (up to 54 slots, more health and a harder bite), netherite plating (fireproof, walks through lava), the magnet charm (pulls in items and experience) and the ender link (a little ender pearl circles it; its key calls it from anywhere, even another dimension). The magnet charm and the ender link sit in their own slots in its screen: take them out and put them back any time. The eye under each upgrade (and the lock colour) hides or shows it on your Lootling.
  • Lootling Chests: a beaten Lootling never dies. It faints and falls asleep as a chest right where it stood, so nothing goes on attacking it; it keeps everything, heals and wakes for its key. Send it to sleep yourself with the moon in its screen. Break a sleeping chest like any chest: what it holds spills out, and the chest drops as an item with your Lootling inside (name, bands and upgrades; its key still fits), to put down anywhere. Craft fresh ones from a chest and planks; fill, upgrade and name them before a blank key wakes them as your Lootling.
  • The keeper of things: die near your Lootling and it swallows your whole inventory and waits for you; one click puts every item back into its own slot.
  • Wild Lootlings hide among the loot chests of dungeons, mineshafts and ruins. Beat one until it hides in its shell, feed it a cookie and it is yours, loot and all.
  • Coats, treats and a whistle: thirteen wood coats (use planks on your Lootling; pale oak on 26.x, poplar on 26.3), treats that heal and make it happy and a whistle for all your Lootlings nearby.
  • Extras: seventeen advancements, a server config and 21 languages.

Compatibility

  • One jar for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, 26.2 and 26.3.
