Light the coast and sail from harbor to harbor.
Build lighthouses along the coast, sail the routes between them once with a sea chart, and from then on travel between your harbors in an instant. Your towers can look however you like: the mod only needs the light on top, and the higher you build, the further it shines.
How it works
- Build a tower and put a light on top: a fire basket, beacon lantern or Fresnel lens.
- Fill it with fuel: planks, logs, coal or charcoal, or a lava bucket for remote towers.
- Place a harbor column nearby and give it a name.
- Chart the route: Hold a sea chart and sail by boat to the next burning lighthouse whose range touches the first one.
- Travel: At the harbor column, pick a destination and pay with a provisions pack or a bit of hunger. A short voyage later you arrive at the destination harbor.
Features
- Three light tiers, upgraded in place. Range grows with the height above sea level, and each tier reaches further.
- Networks of any size. Routes chain over intermediate lighthouses, and lighthouses without a harbor work as waypoints. The fastest route is found automatically.
- Fuel only on travel. Nothing burns down while you are away, and a lava bucket lasts for a thousand trips.
- Clear feedback. The harbor menu lists every extinguished or unreachable lighthouse that blocks a route.
- Sextant: a planning tool for builders. It shows the range at your current height, the lighthouses around you with direction and distance, and how high you would have to build to reach each one.
- Maps: Vanilla maps show harbors as anchors with their names, and waypoint lighthouses as small towers.
- Per-player routes (optional): Every player charts their own routes. Route copies let you hand chosen routes to friends, and copies can be duplicated.
- Flotsam: Weathered crates and barrels wash up on some beaches. Open them for driftwood, rope and kelp, and, if you are very lucky, materials for a light or even a whole fire basket.
- Lighthouse Keeper's Handbook: an in-game guide with crafting recipes. Its numbers always match your server's config.
- Lit lights come alive, with crackling flames, a lantern glow or glints around the lens.
Built for servers
- No chunk loading: Routes, fuel and travel checks all run on stored network data. Only the destination chunk is loaded when you arrive.
- No ticking machinery: Nothing is simulated in the background.
- Ownership: Harbors belong to whoever placed them. Only the owner or an operator can rename or break them. Permission nodes (
lighthouses.harbor.place,…rename_any,…break_any,lighthouses.travel,lighthouses.chart) work with permission mods like LuckPerms. - Configurable: range factor, sea level, travel cost, fuel, charting rules, flotsam frequency and more, in a synced server config.
- Datapack-friendly: fuel values, flotsam loot and flotsam spawning are tags and data files.
- English and German.
