Aqueducts Network

Catch spring water, lead it downhill through channels and castella, and let fountains, thermae and wells bring your farms and villages to life.

Build Roman aqueducts that water your fields.

Catch water at a spring, lead it through channels that slope steadily downhill, and bring it to fountains, thermae and castella. Your aqueduct can be any shape you like: arches, pillars, tunnels and buildings are entirely up to you. The mod only checks one rule: water never flows uphill.

How it works

  1. Spring catchment: Place it in water. It counts the water source blocks around it, and that count sets its yield.
  2. Channels: They connect like rails and step down one block at a time. Stone and wood channels need support, and if they span too far between pillars they collapse like sand.
  3. Castellum: Distributes the water to several outlets and buffers it. When the supply drops, the buffer bridges the gap.
  4. Chorobates: The Roman surveying tool. Survey your channel and the water starts to flow. The tool reports rises, gaps and bottlenecks with their exact position. Long channels can be walked with the tool in hand.
  5. Fountains: The end point of your aqueduct. They keep farmland moist, make crops and saplings grow faster, and villagers gather around them.

Features

  • Spring catchments in three tiers: spring catchment, walled catchment and spring house, each upgraded in place.
  • Channels in many materials: wood, cobblestone, stone bricks, bricks, sandstone and deepslate.
    • Each material has its own span and flow rate.
  • Castella in three sizes: inlets on the upper half, outlets on the lower half, and a water buffer that is kept when the block is broken.
  • Fountains in three tiers: water spout, fountain basin and grand fountain, all wall-mounted with visible flowing water.
  • Thermae:
    • Heat the pools with praefurnia, which can be fed by hand or by hopper.
    • Frigidarium washes off ailments, tepidarium gives Regeneration I, caldarium gives Regeneration II.
    • Bathe in the Roman order to become Well Bathed.
  • Draw well: Set it over a shaft to groundwater. It keeps nearby farmland moist and fills buckets and bottles.
  • Cistern: Build a masonry basin of any shape, and it slowly fills with rain water.
  • Water Master's Handbook: An in-game guide with crafting recipes. Its numbers always match your server's config.
  • Lacus
    • Let an aqueduct end in a drawn waterfall into a basin below – no water block is placed. The basin can lead the water on from its sides.
    • Neighbouring basins form one pool; the fall height is configurable.
  • Ignifer – lava ducts
    • Lava catchments (three tiers), lava channels (nether bricks, red nether bricks, blackstone, basalt, deepslate) and lava castella (three sizes).
    • Open lava crusts over outside the Nether (at once in the rain); covers such as glass panes and bars keep it flowing. Break a crust open with a pickaxe.
    • Water channels in the Nether must be covered, or the water evaporates.
    • Lava pump: driven by aqueduct water through a copper fall pipe, it lifts lava from a lava duct up a blackstone riser to a lava channel or lava castellum. A lava catchment can feed it directly. Pipes show whether water or lava flows inside.
    • Lava manifold: feeds furnaces, smokers, blast furnaces, lava ovens and praefurnia next to it; strands of up to 16 blocks, also around corners.
    • Lava oven: fed by a manifold, it smelts twice as fast without fuel.
    • Fire basin: faster nether wart and fungi, warm striders, melts snow and ice.
    • Lava fall: the lacus for lava.
    • Laconicum: three heated praefurnia at one bath inlet give Fire Resistance, also out of the water.
    • New handbook pages for the lacus and all lava blocks.

Built for servers

  • No ticking machinery: Water distribution is only recalculated when something changes, and buffer levels are calculated instead of simulated.
  • Ownership: Nodes belong to whoever placed them, surveyed channels to whoever surveyed them. Only the owner, operators, and players with the permission aqueducts.manage_others can break, upgrade or survey from them. The permission works with permission mods like LuckPerms.
  • Configurable: Yields, spans, flow rates, buffers, radii, bath times and more are all set in a synced server config. Spring catchments can optionally be restricted to certain biomes, including modded ones via tags.
  • Datapack-friendly: Growable plants, cistern walls, praefurnium fuel and the effects the bath washes off are all tags.
  • English and German.
