One file is all you need. Pick the file for your Minecraft version (its name ends in
+mc26.3.jaror+mc1.21.1.jar); it works on Fabric and NeoForge, and Fabric API is inside too. Learn or Die, the mod itself, is inside. Learning several languages? Install each language's file: Learn or Die loads only once. Right now: the newest files are waiting for review; they appear under Files as soon as they are approved.Other languages: Learn Chinese, Learn Spanish, Learn German, Learn Portuguese, Learn Japanese.
English for Learn or Die: Language Teacher. A complete mod: the Learn or Die teacher and quizzes plus everything for English.
Your teacher watches what you do in Minecraft and says it out loud in English: I am digging the dirt. The sentence shows up on screen with a translation in your own language: Spanish, Portuguese, German, Chinese or Japanese, chosen in the settings (press I → Translations) or taken from the language your Minecraft is set to. Without a translation the quiz is a listening one: the teacher says the phrase and you pick what you heard. Then he quizzes you: answer right and you get buffs, answer wrong and you get debuffs.
What's inside
- 2,719 spoken phrases about what you do: walking, mining, chopping trees, placing blocks, eating, fighting, sleeping, the weather and more. Counted items the natural way: the sentence first, the number after it.
- 515 words, the real names of the blocks, creatures and items, with the colour words and verbs coloured by their role in the sentence.
- A clear, confident American voice at two speeds, normal and slow (press K). Works offline.
- Voice answers in English. Say the phrase into your microphone; the speech recognition runs on your own computer (set it up in the mod's settings).
- Hardcore has a twist. Answer wrong in a Hardcore world and the cowboy draws his revolver: the shot is what kills you.
- Translations in five languages, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Chinese and Japanese: pick yours in the settings (press I → Translations) or let the mod follow your game's language.
How to install
- Download the file for your Minecraft version, 1.21.1 or 26.3. The same file works on Fabric and NeoForge.
- Put it into your
modsfolder and start the game. With more than one language, choose it in the settings: press I → Language.
With the CurseForge App, just install this mod into a Fabric or NeoForge profile of Minecraft 1.21.1 or 26.3: the app picks the right file.
The file is about 70 MB because all the teacher's speech is inside it: no internet is needed to play.
