Lava Vision Shader Fix
A Fabric and NeoForge mod that makes lava vision work with shaders.
Mods that let you see under lava, with a potion, an enchantment or a helmet, are often broken by shaders:
- They clear your view by changing Minecraft's own fog.
- Shader packs replace that fog with their own. Under lava, BSL for example draws a fog that hides everything beyond about two blocks, so the effect does nothing.
Lava Vision Shader Fix makes the shader pack skip its lava fog while you have lava vision, so you can see through the lava.
It's client-only, so servers don't need it and you can join any server with it installed.
How it works
- Most shader packs check whether you are in lava before drawing their lava fog. While you have lava vision, the mod tells them you are not, so they skip the fog and you see through the lava as if it were air.
- Lava vision means any effect, enchantment or helmet listed in the config, or Fire Resistance if you turn that on.
- The mod only steps in while a shader pack is on. With shaders off, lava vision mods already work, so they keep their own look.
- Without lava vision, lava looks the same as always.
- It's tested with a variety of popular shader packs, and should work with any shader pack running through Iris.
Config
config/lavavisionshaderfix.json. Changes apply in game within a second.
It's also editable in game: through Mod Menu on Fabric, or from the mod list on NeoForge.
