Latitude v1.2.2 — Border & Biome Consistency Update
This release focuses on fixing world size clarity, restoring proportional polar warnings, and correcting biome inconsistencies near the poles.
🧭 World Size & UI
- Diameter-Based Labels: Clarified the size selector to display diameter labels (e.g., Regular 20k) for better planning.
- Expanded World Sizes: Added more presets to the diameter selection:
- Itty Bitty: 7.5k
- Tiny: 10k
- Small: 15k
- Regular: 20k
- Large: 30k
- Huge: 40k
- Backwards Compatibility: Restored and expanded options without breaking existing worlds.
🌍 Latitude Accuracy
- Zone Entry Titles: Now display your actual player latitude (e.g., Tropics 18°N), matching the HUD exactly.
- Calculated Precision: Removed discrepancies between zone-center math and player-position math.
❄️ Polar & Border Warnings (Major Fix)
- Distance-Based Staging: Replaced percentage thresholds with clear distance-to-border milestones:
- 300 blocks: "Consider turning back"
- 150 blocks: "Lethal conditions ahead" + mild debuffs
- 50 blocks: Lethal cold / full effects
- Status Effects: Restored Stage 2 negative effects (Slowness, Weakness) that were missing in v1.2.1.
- Consistent Logic: Applied this staging consistently for both North/South cold zones and East/West sandstorm zones.
🌱 Biome Generation Consistency
- Vertical Alignment: Biomes are now applied consistently across the full vertical column, fixing "mixed" reads like beaches appearing at high altitudes.
- Key Improvements:
- More reliable snow accumulation.
- Corrected polar terrain appearance.
- Better alignment for villages and structures.
🛠 Stability & Compatibility
- Safe Updates: No world corruption or border resizing for existing saves.
- World Size Shift: Existing worlds are automatically accommodated. For example, if you had a 10k diameter world previously labeled "Regular," it is now correctly labeled "Tiny" to prevent chunk shifts.
